This time last year I committed Pory's first line of code. 🤯
Since then our little platform has helped thousands of people across the world build products using Airtable.
I’ve been racking my brains all day trying to find the right words to describe our journey to 100k in MRR. Whilst we are far from reaching this goal, I still wanted to take the time to share our highs and lows with you all.
Happy Birthday, Pory ❤️
I am absolutely mortified about putting myself online… but I know starting a channel to teach people how to build cool sh*t without code is going to help so many people!
Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be turning micro startup ideas into fully functional websites and web apps. Automation included ;)
Disclaimer: I actually have no idea what I'm doing... feedback and content ideas are appreciated!
We're all onboard the hustle train and will be going full steam ahead to destination: product-market fit!
Our journey started just 78 days ago and we've been fortunate enough to cross 1,000 users and receive funding to fully dedicate all our time on making Pory.io even bigger and better.
Today is a huge personal milestone for me - we released our subscription plan yesterday on https://pory.io and got our first paying customer this morning! 🙈
I always thought the hardest part about starting a side business was in being able to build it, but as our days turned into years trying to find the right problem to solve ... I know it truly comes down to whether or not you’re passionate about it enough. If the answer is no, then expect yourself to be stuck in a vicious cycle of starting and abandoning projects.
Finding the right problem I was passionate about solving, which also happens to align with my skillset was definitely like capturing lightning in a bottle...
Today I can proudly say that I want to help non-technical founders build web apps without code using Airtable and other no-code tools ❤️.
A little over 2 weeks ago we tossed our Product Pory.io into the wild thinking that no one would use it. The idea was half baked, the product was infested with bugs, yet everyone was so understanding and supportive. We were and still are literally swept away by all the support, kind words and believers of Pory. Some people even more so than ourselves!
What started as a passion project in April 2020 has now involved into a full-time job... 😅 What's next for us is to focus on integrating with all your favourite apps and take Pory to the next level.
Stay tuned for Pory 2.0! 🍿
https://pory.io is helping people create sites without code using Airtable. We launched our product with unfriendly URLs like this one: https://pory.io/5eae540e3b9cbec38e14c3e4/meetup (thinking no one would actually use it)
Well that's not going to cut it anymore... We now let you create your own subdomains. Quickly dibs your own unique site.pory.app URL before it's gone! 🥳
Our Product Hunt launch was a huge success and we ended up getting a huge influx of users.
We spent the rest of the week staying up until 5 am each day ironing kinks and migrating off Firebase auth. Nope, Firebase and SSR apps do not mix well together guys! Been there, done that.
The migration didn't go as smooth as we wanted, but nonetheless we got there in the end!
What did I learn? People are so kind and supportive! ❤️
A huge shout out to our first 500 users - You guys are amazing!
I've always wanted to build a product that could fully utilise my design and front-end skills and I've finally found the idea!
Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be building a platform for creating MVPs with no-code using Airtable as a database.
The initial launch will include templates to some of the most popular websites.
We want to help people build more than just a static site.
