There's a few project tools out there for YouTubers. I'm not super keen on how they work, so I wanted to make my own. I'm a YouTuber myself, as well as a dev, so this is scratching my own itch.

February 3, 2021 Landing Page (placeholder with email capture) done

The initial pre-mvp landing page is up!

I don’t have the best copy (and in fact, I know it’s not great), but it is up. It’s fairly simple, with a few undraw illustrations and an unsplash photo. Some very simple copy that explains the overall gist, until I can start fleshing out the exact features/benefits and start working on the UI to show it off.

And, of course, the CTA to start collecting emails for the product!

If you’re creating YouTube videos, or a podcast, (or even streaming on Twitch), let me know- I’m still gathering user feedback so I build the right thing.

Cheers!

January 12, 2021 Multiple Backend APIs created

I'm currently on hold for my frontend, as I await SvelteKit to be released (I built my other product with Sapper/Svelte and love it, and SvelteKit is the next iteration of Sapper).

As I wait, I've been building out the backends of Producer- Users, Accounts, Organizations, Roles, Projects, Tasks, Comments, Flagging, and more.

I don't normally TDD/test a ton, but as this product is going to have a lot more domain and business logic (especially around subscription levels and roles) I've added a lot more tests than I normally would which, for this application, has been fantastic. (For ListenAddict, they're not really necessary as it's only basic users + me as an admin and fairly simple logic).

Next up, diving into the YouTube APIs!

December 12, 2020 Registered domain + decided on name

With so many good domains out there already taken, it was a bit hard. Ended up using Namecheap's domain explorer to research what to call the product.

In the end, decided to register useproducer.com, with the product still just being called "Producer".
