Curated list of resources to learn product design
I learned to design from the internet, through the resources, blogs & newsletters shared by the good folks. Product Disrupt is my way of giving back to the community.
Product Disrupt hit its new best this month in terms of revenue 🥳
Revenue: $476.6
Expense: $17
Subscribers: 3,813
This was made possible with the help of the 3 months sponsorship deal (6 issues) that I recently closed and some affiliate revenue from the website.
I'm so glad to share that Product Disrupt newsletter has sold out the sponsorships for the next 3 months.
It's the first time that I've sold 3 months (6 issues) sponsorship deal to a single sponsor. I usually manage to sell a single issue or 2 issue deals.
Full disclosure:
6 issues
3 months
$1200
It was quite a surprising deal in the sense that I didn't do anything different this time around. I just think it's a matter of finding the right fit and a bit of luck.
I reached out to the sponsor after a friend brought to my notice that they've already sponsored a few other similar newsletters. It was clear that they were looking to reach the product & design audience. And so there seemed like a natural fit for Product Disrupt.
We managed to close the deal by exchanging only a few emails.
Product Disrupt is an Open Startup and I share its numbers on this Twitter thread on a monthly basis. Feel free to follow along if interested.
First 1000 is a weekly newsletter by Ali Abouelatta that does a deep dive into how founders got their first 1000 customers. With their back against the wall and very little amount of funding, it is always interesting to learn how they managed to get their companies off the ground to become a tech behemoth.
The insights shared there are quite interesting and valuable. It's also been recommended by Guy Kawasaki.
I'm very thankful to Ali for giving Product Disrupt a very generous shoutout in his newsletter issue where he covered how Linear got it's first 1000 customers.

@Michael featured Product Disrupt in his list of "No Code Tech Stacks" where he does a little summary on the stack used to build side projects.
His curation is a great way to discover new projects build with no-code.

I contributed to Wrong Project which is a website with bite-sized think pieces by creators you’ve probably heard of.
Product Disrupt is my side-project and I've been working on it for over 3+ years now.
It has enabled me to connect with people that I wouldn't otherwise have an opportunity to connect with. It has also opened up a world of possibilities that I didn't even think was possible.
Here I've shared my opinion about why I think side-projects are important 👇

In his most recent newsletter, @dru_riley talks about the Open Startup movement.
I'm very humbled to find a mention in his newsletter for the numbers and journey of Product Disrupt that I've been sharing with the IH community and on Twitter.

I've been sharing stories through Product Disrupt Blog for over 4+ years now where every month I feature an inspiring side-project.
I hit a sweet milestone today by featuring the 50th side-project on Product Disrupt Blog 🥳
No. 50th is the 36 Days of Kinetic Type – a series of type in motion by Syddharth Mate.

Last month, I launched Product Disrupt 2.0 on Product Hunt and it became the #2 product of the day with features in many websites and newsletters.
It's been close to 3 years since I've been running Product Disrupt Newsletter but I was able to add 827 subscribers last month alone owing to the successful launch.
My main acquisition channels have been the main website – productdisrupt.com, a weekly blog on Medium, my personal Twitter & LinkedIn.
Case Study Club sends a weekly email with UI/UX case studies to help people design better digital products. It is curated by Jan Haaland.
Product Disrupt 2.0 got featured in their weekly issue of Apr 27, 2020.
