March 21, 2023 Thinking of launching something new

Hi all,

Rohan here from rmd-hk.com. Been on Indihackers for quite some time and have been thinking about new ways to improve our business. Currently came across 2 pain points that prospective clients have when it comes to signing:

Their reluctance to pay a hefty price for design and development when there isn't a clear ROI on it

Long decision-making times since these projects are often high ticket

I guess this is the "tech winter" we're all going through at the moment. However, I had an idea to change that. We charge per sign-up on a client's landing page and we'll refund 50% if the desired sign-up goal isn't reached.

Each sign-up will have a fixed value (currently at US$1.2 per sign-up) and we'll charge according to how many they think they'll get. For example, if someone thinks they'll get 1000 sign-ups, then we'll charge US$1200 for the landing page.

We've got a rough landing page already up showcasing this but would love some feedback on both the landing page and if this modal would be something that the general community is interested in.

February 9, 2023 Long time no update, my bad

Long time, no update. Things have been hectic to say the least. We shifted a lot over this new year. We relaunched rohan-malhotra.com to be rmd-hk.com. It could no longer be just me, we really picked up steam and outgrew our old portfolio site and branding.

As for RoFlow, it’s hard, clients are far and few in-between but making it more tailored to be the go-to white label development service for agencies is looking to be the right path for us. Most companies are now just sticking with retainers from agencies who already built their site and so a shift into being a white-label service may be in order.

We also recently launched a partnerships programmed on RMD (https://rmd-hk.com/partnerships) to work with agencies in both the no-code space and also in various other spaces so we can bounce leads off one another and do revenue splits. Overall, a promising outlook to the year and our main goal this year is to become a Webflow Enterpise partner whilst spreading the word of no-code around Hong Kong and APAC!

December 5, 2022 Our end of year

First time in 6 months I did a project by myself from design to dev. Our end-of-year recap, is the closest project to me I've ever done. Thank you to all of those who have helped us this year and of course our clients.

Growth was insane in the first 1/3 of the year but then things started to go sour during the middle. RoFlow was hit especially hard and we were hanging on by the skin of our teeth. Luckily, I made the decision to hire a sales lead during this time and things really started to pick up during the last 1/3.

It’s been a great year of growth, learning and networking. 2023 is next and I can’t wait to see what that will hold!

October 2022 September 2022 update

Terrible month this month, this was our second lowest revenue month this year. However, that is not to say that it was all bad, I learnt a lot from it and pivoted to offer only Webflow development instead of development + design. The design stage really wasn’t fun and I think I should save the resources to our one-off projects.

I came to a hard reality this month with our 87% drop in MRR. From once being at 5 figures to now being under 4 figures is a harsh truth that I am learning to live with. 

However, I do have some great plans for the coming months and with our new sales manager I think we can really take roflow.co and rohan-malhotra.com to a whole new level.

September 1, 2022 August 2022 Update

Ah August, a very mediocre month. RoFlow had little growth during this time. We signed on no new clients. However, we are testing quite a lot. Trying out a new cold email template and a we rebuilt the flow of our site. Over the past couple of month I noticed more and more agencies coming to us and signing up for the weekly plan to fix bugs on their client sites. We leveraged this by creating a landing page specially for them.

Besides that not much on the RoFlow front, however we are securing some high ticket projects on rohan-malhotra.com with no out reach, these prospective clients are finding us by themselves which means great news for our SEO team 💪

July 31, 2022 June & July Monthly Update

Forgot to post our monthly recap last month so this will be a June/July recap.

June: June was an okay month, we expanded our team and I launched dollarleads.co on Producthunt which got onto the 9th highest product of the day and had some good revenue and net profit come in. Besides that, we worked with another Webflow agency to help them out on some internal pages and spoke with some people from the community and got rid of the “by the hour” plan and changed it to the “by the week” plan.

July: Got 2 weeks on the “by the week” plan and carried on working with that client till mid-July. Alongside that, we had a loss of revenue of 33% becasue one of our clients decided to halt their membership. We also launched 12 templates 12 weeks on Prouducthunt and that went terribly, my worst launch to date. However, it was a community project so it was really to get more eyeballs onto the site.

In terms of revenue, we have 2 new clients sign up with us on a monthly plan in July and have 3 more in the pipeline with 2 one-off projects!
