No code Alexa skill creator for Wordpress
With 200+ million Amazon Alexa devices and over 4 billion Alexa-ready devices worldwide, there's never been a better time to use these little devices to extend your reach and engage your people.
Here we were, diligently planning our Product Hunt launch, when BAM we were hunted in the middle of a Thursday!
My first reaction was "nooo" but then I thought, you know what, it's pretty cool to have someone think Shoutworks is worth hunting in the first place. Plus it's kind of like the bandaid's just been ripped off - we may have avoided a bunch of stress!
Anyway, go upvote us! Gogogogo https://www.producthunt.com/posts/shoutworks
Pretty awesome platform they have. What do you think? https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/shoutworks
I've been looking for ways to get featured in the little "upcoming" section on top of the home page... haven't found anything yet, but will keep you posted!
Woo! It finally happened - we've had 1 person sign up for a Shoutworks account and made our first charge after his 30-day free trial was up yesterday! Feels great! :D
We have been trying to get people on the system for a little while, but hadn't really invested in marketing until recently. Now with our email marketing system up and running, we're driving some small traffic, but looking to boost it some more.
We had a few persistent bugs in the signup flow, especially around taking credit card details with Stripe, but after exhaustive testing and a lot of work with our developer we finally have it working. Now to try and figure out how to get people to sign up.
We had launched early with a "free for life" plan while working on the regular sign up flow, but we can finally start putting users through. We decided to make a 30-day free trial the default, and to take credit card details up front. Let's see how it holds up, we may have to change up our strategy.
For background, we have a 9.99/mo Standard plan and a 4.99/mo Nonprofit plan, with billing starting after the 30 day free trial.
Would love feedback! https://shoutworks.com/
Pretty cool feeling! Also scary. But really cool to see all the dominoes falling in the product... first signup, then starting to use the product, then actually seeing Alexa Skills created and submitted without us touching anything!
I posted about https://shoutworks.com in a couple of huge Wordpress Facebook groups, and so far about 10 people have sent us an email expressing interest. Of those, 5 have started to use the product after we gave them the Free For Life coupon code. (Just send a quick email to [email protected] and we'll hook you up.)
Feeling like that's okay for so little effort on marketing. Of course, we've invested a ton in the product, getting our website to look good, etc.
The best part is the fact that our first few free users found their way through the product enough to get to the Skill Publish finish line within the first day of sharing it with them.
Already getting some new ideas for things to build to make it easier/better!
Our core team of 4, plus web design contractors, have been working for over 3 months to pull this off, but we're finally ready to get some users on the platform!
Working with the Amazon Alexa platform has not been easy, but we've produced the following:
And now we're ready for the world to see it! We are selecting a limited pool of early users who are willing to try it out, give us feedback, and go along for the journey with us.
If that's you, just send a message to [email protected] and we'll answer straightaway :)
Around the table with 3 of us cofounders, we began talking about what the next big platform shift in software might be. One of us had ridden the wave when personal computing took off, and we were speculating what the next big wave would be. It struck us that voice could be it: Amazon, Google, Apple and others have been quietly integrating voice assistants everywhere. The fact that there are over 150 million individual Alexa devices in the US, and growing, was the thing that tipped us. And they're mostly just used for weather, music and timers, it turned out. Why not more? We had to start looking into what we could do to enable the next shift in this platform. We think Shoutworks might help get more people producing content for it, and with more good content, usage might start to pick up in big and new ways.
