SnapPass

Every place I've worked has shared passwords (for internal tools, usually) insecurely. Over emails, over chat, over SMS. When I worked at Pinterest, our team used 1password. But there was not a good sharing system. So my intern and I built an open source project called SnapPass.

I left Pinterest in 2014, 6 years ago, and at my job after then and at many of my consulting roles, the best way to share passwords was using insecure means. I hate it. I also hate that there's no good way to share passwords in a secure way.

Since I fashion myself an IndieHacker, I thought it might be nice to productize this. While many people would have no problems running this software in Docker - I think there's enough people who want a simple tool that works well and is maintained.

My hope is this tool will be useful for consultants, smaller IT departments even non tech industry places where people know enough to not share passwords over emails, but they don't have the tools (or the need) to host their own solution.
