Spike.sh - a new redesinged dashboard and website

Most of our website in the past was something people already liked, but we still went ahead and redesigned it because our main story started with the dashboard.

Our dashboard, you see, was too blue, literally. The sidebar was annoying to some and while some actually liked it.

Why did we do it? Honestly because our customers login to the dashboard for these reasons -

  1. Change incident status
  2. Learn more about incidents
  3. Add a new integration
  4. Edit alerts via escalation policy

The blue bar pinched in the eye and it was too distracting. So, we first changed the colour of the sidebar and then we changed the tables to adapt to some best practices. Then we cleaned it by showing information that is actually important.

Once all this was done, we started to look closer to our website.

Your website should be your sales machine. Was ours a sales machine? NO.

It was good to look at but it was in no way converting as much as we wanted to.

So, the first thing we did was write copy, and write we did. Landing pages/marketing websites should talk about the problem and ours never really did.

We wanted to change it.

Also, talking too much about a problem is annoying. So we kept it at a minimal.

After copy was through we knew exactly the kind of sections we wanted to add like

  1. How it works
  2. Pricing
  3. FAQs
  4. Signup block at the end of page

I wouldn't really say we redesigned the website as much as changed some colours and mainly font.

The new pastel colour with a jet blue looks damningly good and we are all super proud of it.
