I've been looking forward to this moment for over a year now, but we just crossed over the 1.3mm monthly page view mark, with 565k uniques. This is up from 700k page views the prior month. Almost all of our traffic is coming organically through google search but now just investing a lot more time in our email list (30 signups daily), push notifications (75 signups daily), and got over 200 responses on our one in year survey, with surprisingly positive feedback and some really great feature ideas for the future.
Our audience since launch has grown approx 25-50% every month, but this one spiked up over 80% due to a set of articles getting a ton of traction. BTW, Analytics are on the Visitors tab if you want to see the growth.
The other really big thing that changed this month is that our ad stack is slightly more than covering all of our costs. We've had a ton of issues with ad vendors, DFP, and wonky house ads, but things seem to be going in the right direction.
It's been just over a year, it's been stressful, and tough to stay positive after leaving my job building sites for other companies, which paid very well to not getting paid at all but it's an amazing feeling to see that this is really going somewhere.
Next steps are to just keep doing what we're doing to grow the audience and invest more time and effort to optimize our ad stack to start making a real paycheck again. Our target audience size based on comps is ~50-100mm page views monthly, but we'll see!
A huuuuuge thanks to Indie Hackers, it's been incredibly inspiring and motivating to be following along with this community.
