This course is for Ruby on Rails developers who have tried StimulusReflex and/or CableReady and want to take a deeper look into advanced patterns, tooling, and integration.

February 14, 2021 4 Weeks of StimulusReflex Patterns

4 weeks ago I started stimulusreflexpatterns.com. Here’s a rundown of what was achieved:

  • sold 16 copies (3 of them via affiliate partners and @gumroad discover) that’s $1,457 after fees 💰
  • 46 people subscribed to the free content ✅
  • 140 total emails sent 📬
  • 3 lessons are completed, the 4th due this week ✍️
  • 2 additions to CableReady and 1 forthcoming gem are a direct outcome 💎
  • I made a few elisp scripts for tangling an org-mode file, and creating carbon screenshots afterwards that I will soon share. 🎁

A few learnings:

  • Content and redirects as outcomes of a purchase are mutually exclusive on @gumroad. I need to find a way to both invite buyers to github and distribute ePub and video content.
  • That’s confirmed by the fact that there was some confusion of the redirect failing when someone wouldn’t provide their GitHub handle

January 29, 2021 First Payout

The first week of early access sales went fairly well, and after Gumroad reviewed and accepted my account, I received $646.88 on my paypal account 🥳

Also, around 40 subscribers to the free sample lessons part, I’m very excited to see how much of them will convert to paying customers ✌️

January 18, 2021 Launch Day

I prepared a drip email automation for the course content, linked it to Gumroad, and added a webhook to invite buyers to the private Github repo.

Launching this as Early Access, meaning the course content is going to grow over time - which makes sense according to a micro survey I did asking folks whether to build an email subscription or a digital product, which came out 50/50 🙃
