After months of stewing over the idea, with the help of @Vinrob's community and the folks at Weekend Club I managed to get my new productised service for podcasting live.
Client work had been pretty steady for the past few months up until Coronvavirus hit when all of my revenue was wiped out (pains of non-recurring revenue). I had to do something quickly to boost revenue and this made the most sense - while also helping people out.
The service will help people and brands launch their podcasts to the highest quality. It took me some time to figure out the ins and outs of creating a podcast, hopefully I can take that pain away for most.
Would love to get your feedback:
The thing is with agency / consultancy work is you can get almost all of your revenue without having an online presence with just your connections and referrals. I was lucky to have a full-time job so I was always meeting people that wanted some level of video production.
I thought after ~7 months of being in business I'd get some sort of placeholder website live. I used everyones favourite website builder (carrd.co) and made a quick site. Good news is that you can still see this site today.
After I'd been paid by my first client I was ready to take it seriously. And we all know it's official when you buy the .com domain.
The name search took longer than I thought. I wanted something that was short af and I could have all the all of the social handles. I wanted this for the long-term. I went onto Namelix and this was one of the suggestions.
I whipped up photoshop and made a quick logo with some of the brand colours I liked.
I have since come to learn that no-one can say the name of the company - which is not helpful.
I won my first client with my old employer. A year on from leaving them I reached back out about making some videos for them. They were keen on getting started quickly so I had to do the search for invoicing and accounting software. I eventually stuck with Wave.
I made a total of 5 social media videos for $1,400 - I then bought my MacBook Pro to ramp up my production.
