As both a graphic and web designer, I'm a big fan of getting vector graphics on the web. These days placing SVGs inline or as an img on webpages is easy, but handling Data URI's are complicated which my website solves.

2019 Grew collection to 200 backgrounds

I knew the best way to grow the value of my product was to add more content. Creating new backgrounds was the focus. This took over a year, since this was a side-project. The premium backgrounds earned about $500/mo on average during 2019 from subscribers. In addition, SVG Backgrounds landed one four digit extended licensing deal for using 10 backgrounds in an app.

April 1, 2018 Added premium backgrounds for sale

I shared on my small social network of friends, and joined a few facebook groups of web designers which helped get my first 100 eyeballs. Someone from a FB group mentioned I should share the site on ProductHunt.com...

January 2018 Came up with my idea

I noticed a lack of resources on how to implement SVGs as a background using Data URIs. It's a bit complicated, and thus why not many designers were using them. I wasn't the first to create a generator, but knowing I could do better and seeing the domain I wanted was available, I started tinkering on how to build my website and generator.
