Launched Tailwind CDN!

Szőgyényi Zoltán @themesberg

I really like using Tailwind CSS so I thought I would make it easier for people to try it out very quickly without having to download files. We also use Stackpath as the CDN provider which ensures speed and caching.

I still have a few updates to make. The project is open source so you can also contribute to it!

Don't forget to submit a PR adding it to https://github.com/aniftyco/awesome-tailwindcss ;)

I'll submit it after a couple of updates & more thorough tests :)

How fun! TIL about Tailwind CSS and it's nifty to see you've CDN-ized it. You seem to keep coming up with cool stuff, totally following you.

      Thank you! :)

Why not use directly https://unpkg.com for this?

    1. 1

You could also use other CDN providers for it, of course. We will try optimizing it in terms of speed and we will also add in the next update a version selector. We also want to create a css purger to remove the unused classes based on the html pages.

      1. 2

I would be a bit of insecure of using unknown CDN in production. So this would only be useful for test projects.

Besides, to get most of the Tailwind, you should customize it with PostCSS, even the documentation suggests that.

If you were to provide customisation features, that may be nice, but you would need a lot of resources to build/store each custom version and that would remove the main benefit CDN caching.

Finally, what if you decide to abandon this project? All test projects will stop working.

        1. 1

By the way, I got inspired from this https://www.bootstrapcdn.com/

Yes, I will be doing the customization with PostCSS. I don't plan on abandoning the project. I think it would be important that at least the costs of hosting to be payed by donation, ads etc.

Also you're right, I think this project is meant to be a quick way of testing and using Tailwind CSS. For long term application development it is best if people follow the recommendations from the official website :)

I'm not a CDN expert so if someone knows how to improve it, that would help a lot!
