Fully functional MVP built in 1-2 days

Mickel Andersson @miickel

I wrote the first line of code 24th of November, 2018. It was a proof of concept only. I knew that it would all work fine "technically" speaking, and would have no problems building it. However, I wanted to quickly get a feel for how it would work. Also, I wanted it done quickly so I myself could start using it - which turned out to be a great motivator for me.

So I whipped together a simple bookmarklet in JavaScript that sent the current URL to my backend application (written in Node). My backend scraped the webpage and extracted the article content, then converted it to speech. I made an API endpoint that outputted an RSS feed of all the posts, which resulted in a podcast feed that I could subscribe to.

All in all, a fully functional proof of concept that I could try on friends and colleagues, built in about 1-2 days.

Most importantly the MVP included the product's core functionality from the get go, which made the concept easy to test on people.
