$10,000+ revenue - one week after launch

One week after launching my first ebook it reached over $10,000 revenue (including pre-sales) selling 747 copies.

I promoted it to my audience on Twitter and YouTube and I had other influencers promote it a bit too.

Below you can see the graph with a spike at the beginning (21st August) when I announced the pre-sales and the big spike on launch day (14th December).

$10000 revenue

I also announced today that the launch promo will end which brought in more sales and I'm expecting a big creator to publish a video soon about the eBook. 👀

Even though overall I'm really happy about the progress, I have made a few mistakes which might have cost me quite a lot:

  • Not having 2-3 tiers, offering something on top of the eBook
  • Not having an email list of potential buyers
  • Not having an in-depth launch plan

Nevertheless, I'll continue to learn and experiment. 😊

That's fantastic (and inspiring :))! I have seen the 2-3 tiers thing with The Art of PostgreSQL eBook that supposedly sold very well at launch (I don't know the exact figures though).

Are these influencers your friends or did you simply reach out to them via Twitter / FB? I'd appreciate any suggestions/insights regarding what's a good way to find appropriate influencers and approach them.

    1. 1

Both cases. My friends and people I’m going to reach out.

I also use my connections to find other influencers

That is impressive! We are working on the launch for paperless.io, so it is nice to see examples like this (looking for testers if you are interested tell me).
Can you tell me how big your own crowed was at this moment?

Paperless looks great - the landing page is nicely done!

Congratulations, I think you did fairly well, I only manage $1700 with my first book launch Grokking the Java Interview, even though I have been blogging for 10 years, but yes, I am very happy that I finally have a book.

But I also agree with your observation, having tiers help earn more.

I'll try tiers on my next product.

Why can't you just introduce it on right this one? You already have a base after all :)

        1. 1

          I might try that too!

You can get emails via export on gumroad https://help.gumroad.com/article/159-exporting-a-customer-sales-csv . Congrats!

Edit: I saw you wrote Potential buyers, export is only for those who bought.
