500 Newsletter Subscribers!

Experimenting with Facebook Lead Ads has worked tremendously well. I went from 290 subscribers to 500 in less than 5 days.

Some quick notes:

  • Facebook placements have converted better than Instagram placements. Maybe our ideal audience is older than I expected?

  • Currently getting $0.29 per lead on a cold audience (targeting general "Sports" interest in Facebook's detailed targeting)

    Just started experimenting with Facebook Lead Ads myself. You learn any lessons about how to run them effectively you could share?

      Hey Chris, basically:

      1.) Use an engaging video
      2.) Have a scroll-stopping thumbnail
      3.) Short, punchy copy

      All in all, though, many of the subscribers that came in from Lead Ads weren't engaged email openers (if at all).

      I decided to shut down my ads altogether after cleaning my email list.

      My conclusion was: since Facebook auto-fills the Lead Forms, they're likely filling it with the email address the user initially used to sign up for Facebook (could have been as early as 2006 or 2007). The likelihood of that still being the user's active email address is slim-to-none.

        Out of curiosity, what's the most effective way you're growing your newsletter nowadays?

          Right now I'm focused on organic growth (SEO & personal outreach).

          SEO – People discover my underdog content via Google search & opt-in to the weekly newsletter while they're on my site reading the stories.

          Personal Outreach – My brand Twitter account (@JokerMagHQ) has a little over 1,000 followers. I strike up conversations with followers in the DMs and eventually tell them about my newsletter. If they seem interested, I either send them my landing page link or get their email and sign them up myself.
