In 2017 we put our life goals on a whiteboard and started planning and reviewing our weeks. This process has helped us to achieve many of our goals so we decided to build a product around this idea.

February 21, 2022 New week calendar

I've finally released the biggest update since we launched theLIFEBOARD: an app redesign and a completely new week calendar.

We've switched from a simple two-column view for habits and tasks, to a calendar-like view. In addition, you can move your tasks and habits to different days by dragging them as seen below:

The new calendar gives users more flexibility and allows them to plan their weeks better.

December 24, 2021 First paying customer on Christmas day!

After a few weeks running Google Ads, today I received an email notification of our first sale! Our first subscriber has chosen the quarterly period subscription plan.

We hope this is the first of many. During the first months of the year, we'll add tons of new features, design improvements, and fixes.

We hope 2022 is the year theLIFEBOARD takes off and becomes a profitable project 馃殌

December 1, 2021 New feature: personal notes

We've been working hard during the last few days to finish and release a new feature in theLIFEBOARD.

Personal notes allow you to keep a journal right next to your life goals and habits. You can write down your ideas, thoughts, and reflections and use these notes in your guided weekly review to celebrate your wins and find ways to improve.

We've added a new button on the menu named "Notes".

How to access Personal notes in theLIFEBOARD

Once you're on the Personal Notes page, just can enter whatever you want in the text field. You'll notice there are a couple of checkboxes below it. These checks will be used to automatically add some tags to your notes:

  • Link to a goal or habit will automatically tag the note with the name of your goal or habit. In the near future, you'll be able to filter your notes by a specific goal or habit and
  • Include in week review will make this note to appear during the weekly review ceremony and you'll be able to choose if this note is a week's win or something you want to improve on.

We think this feature adds a lot of value to theLIFEBOARD and we know a few users were waiting for it.

November 16, 2021 200 weeks planned by users!

200 weeks

We've reached 200 weeks created by our users, almost 2 years. After releasing the subscription plans, I reached out to all the early access users to let them know about the latest updates and what's to come, which brought back some of them. A few weeks later we've reached this milestone 馃帀

Now we're going to focus on promoting the app and try to get our first paying customer!

November 1, 2021 Released subscription plans

After a few months of delay, we've finally released the subscription plans for theLIFEBOARD, so now we can say it's finally a SaaS!

The development tasks took more time than expected to make sure we handled the subscription flows properly (trial, upgrade, cancellations etc...).

We decided to offer a 14 days trial period with no credit card required. After that, users have to select one of our plans (monthly, quarterly or yearly).

We've also created a new mail funnel for trial users. During their 14 days trial period we send multiple emails about the app, the best features, our motivation to build the project, etc. We hope this could help convert trial users to paid ones 馃.

In addition, we've offered free-forever plans to all the early access users (thanks to the almost 200 that requested it!)

We're now focusing on marketing and fixing any bugs reported by the users. Let's see how long it takes us to get our first paying user 馃

July 5, 2021 100 goals created and 150 weeks planned

A few days ago users created the 100th goal in theLIFEBOARD and a few days later the week 150 was planned!

It's great to see these numbers grow. It has taken 4 months to grow from 100 weeks to 150. We're slowly adding new features and planning new strategies to find more users and get feedback from the existing ones to make theLIFEBOARD a better product.

June 14, 2021 Website redesign: faster and more content

The previous version of the website contained both the app and all the static public pages. This caused our landing page to be slower so I decided to separate the app from the public pages and have two different projects.

The app remains as it was but has been moved to a subdomain.

The new website is served from the root domain. We've also decided to include a new user guides section and a blog.

In general, the new website has an improved design, more content and it's faster. We'll be adding more guides and blog articles every week.

Feedback is welcome and if you find any issue, please let me know 馃檹

March 1, 2021 100 weeks planned on theLIFEBOARD

Yesterday a user created the 100 week on theLIFEBOARD. This means almost two full years of people planning their weeks on our app 馃棑

It has taken around six months, a slow and steady progress but a few things have helped boost traffic and gain users:

  • In October we were featured on Betalist. This gave us a huge spike on traffic and signups.
  • In Christmas we launched our new year resolutions exercise and promoted it on Instagram and Twitter. Multiple people completed the exercise but not too many signed up to use the app.
  • During the last couple of weeks I've been promoting theLIFEBOARD on different subreddits, replying to some threads and recommending it to people that might find it useful. This gave us some traffic, but the signups grow very slowly.

All of those tactics seem to be working so I plan to keep working on them and add a few more features to make theLIFEBOARD a better product.

You can see all our stats in our open page

February 23, 2021 Created our open stats page

Last week I realised we had no easy way to track our growth and everytime we needed to check the number of users on early access, total subscribers or any other metric, I had to run queries directly on our database.

This wasn't ideal so I decided to create a job that saves some metrics daily. After that, I realised that with this data I could create an open stats page so that's what we've shipped 馃殌

Our open stats page shows:

  • Early access users
  • Total subscribers
  • Goals created
  • Tasks created
  • Habits created
  • Weeks tracked

It's public in the link below 馃憞

February 2, 2021 First update of the year: improved weekly ceremony

One of the things we wanted to improve in theLIFEBOARD was the weekly review ceremony. We noticed that a lot of users stopped using theLIFEBOARD at the end of the first week. That meant some people were finding it difficult to complete or actually didn't knew how to do it.

In addition, some users suggested to us new features, so we've included them.

The new week review ceremony is still a step-by-step questionnaire but we've added new features to help users actually make the most of this important exercise.

The 4 steps to complete your weekly review ceremony are:

  • Review: A new step in which you'll be able to check all your habits, goal-related tasks and, even your goal's milestones. If you forgot to check your habits someday during the week, you'll be able to do it now. In addition, having your milestones at hand will help you focus on your next steps to achieve your goals.

  • Score & notes: You'll receive a weekly score based on your habits checks and tasks completion. In this step you'll also be able to answer a few questions about your week's wins and how you can do better. These questions will change depending on how you did so we recommend you to take some time to reflect as they'll help you find valuable lessons you can apply next week.

  • Plan: In this step, you'll select the start and end dates, define a short statement with your priorities for the week and choose the habits you'll work on during the week.

  • Help: Lastly, you'll have the option to select the topics you are interested in to get your personalized list of articles and videos from our library each week.

We hope this new week review ceremony helps people like you find new ways to be more productive and encourage them to continue working towards their goals, achieve happiness and a fulfilled life.

If you're trying to be more productive and create new habits, we invite you to try theLIFEBOARD, we're sure you'll love it 馃
