Online Record Shop with Platform Aspirations
Shopping for records online sucks
Our site was pretty shitty for a while. The Shopify theme was slowly degenerating and our product selection was poor. We were using an omnichannel saas for vinyl sellers which I won't name but was terrible. I was going through some severe mental problems. It was a shitty couple years. Anyway, I updated our site and I'm happy with it. Thinking about working on something besides ecommerce though.
Almost all our orders come from Amazon, and a few from friends through our site. Today an order came through the Shopify site from someone that we didn't know. We've dipped our toes into marketing on google, bidding ads on two specific records that I know are popular (Folklore and Nuggets) and that's where I think the order came from
Big day for sales from Amazon. Almost all were "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy". Not sure why. We kept raising the price, hoping to slow down the flow of orders because we were worried about covering the costs, but people kept buying! What a rollercoaster.
We officially launched our first store on Shopify! It is pretty bare bones, featuring selections from my record collection and a handful from our distributor. There's a lot of text on there about who we are, our dream to open a record shop, yadda yadda yadda.
