I have decided to postpone developing Toko for the immediate future whilst I conduct market research and validate a new product, which I will be shortly launching on IH.
I have realised that Toko, being a feedback aggregator, is up against lots of stiff competition and I believe it would be best for me to go into a market with slightly less competitors.
I have decided to take a u-turn with Toko and completely redo the entire idea that I had with it. Instead of being an ecommerce creation site, I have decided to rid that idea and instead create a product that I believe has a much lesser touched market with greater opportunities.

I have decided to learn Angular so I have another tool at my disposal, however I also hope it can assist me in the development of Toko. During the next few months of learning, I won't be able to work on Toko as much as I would have hoped, however I believe this is needed and an overall net positive.
It has been a long time waiting. I have decided that the design of the site can wait for the business logic. I have two dashboard pages ready.
Currently using django-allauth for authentication as it allows for a quick set up and for 3rd party logins such as Google.
I think the next step is to set up the models for everything and then figure out how the Stripe API works.
The most difficult step I see heading into the future is the site customiser/builder, as it is a very, very niche field, thus causing there to be very little information about it online.
Over the past month or so, I have been gradually making changes to Toko. I deployed the landing page @ https://tokoapp.netlify.app/. I am actually currently in the process of redesigning the landing page to more accurately represent the brand, and to really follow one design scheme throughout the whole website, from the landing page to the website builder.
Speaking of website builders, it is the one feature that I have not thought about at all during this process, which is ironic since it is possibly the most important feature of the website. I have put days of work into both branding, the dashboard and landing page, but little to no thought into the major component of the site. I am hoping to change this in the next month, focusing on the mechanics of the editor, and hopefully will have a very basic version by the end of the month.
A basic backend is also a must in the next month. I am using the Django framework, which I am quite experienced in, so it should not be too much of a struggle implementing user authentication and a basic dynamic dashboard.
This month is going to be jam packed with things that need doing, so I hope there will also be more regular (possibly weekly?) updates here on the progress of Toko.
I decided to make my old full time project a side project
My other project wasn't going anywhere, so I decided it would be best to focus on this, which was definitely hard, since I loved my other project. I can't let it weigh me down, here's to a good product in the form of Toko!
