Detect market's opportunities in a data scientist's way
I've been trading the last 4 years, reading, studying, experimenting, winning and losing money, collecting a lot of experience, and using my programing/data scientist skills I thought that I can make this a product.
Ok, I started the house from the roof. I developed TradingAdvisor because I scratched my own itch and then I converted it into an App. I have not validated the idea yet by paying customers, and I'm having trouble achieving that.
I can't use stripe because I'm from Latin America, and I have 2 weeks waiting for Paddle validation. One of the things I needed for that was a landing page (duh), and it really annoyed me because I don't have design skills and front-end is not my passion at all. So well, I started to design and code my landing page without joy, and took me 4 days to realize that I should use a tool for this and stop inventing the wheel every time I need one. I took the advice of @levelsio from his book and created a carrd.co account, and boy, I feel like an idiot for not trying that earlier :D.
So, here is my landing page https://tradingadvisor.carrd.co/
I'm actively on Reddit reading posts about people struggling with trading and trying to improve their strategies, so I reply to them telling something about what I do and have learned, and then invite them to use my app without spamming. I think this is not scalable but, it helps me understand the pain my possible clients are facing, and it gives me an idea about what I should be building.
I learned the importance of having your users registered, so, I worked the whole week developing this feature. I focused only on this and forgot about being active in Reddit to spread the words about my project and now I know that important is marketing. Lesson Learned.
This is a post-mortem update: At this moment, I had 250 new users according to google analytics and I was so excited. I didn't have a registration system so, I couldn't reach any of them or try to charge them in the future so, I focused on working on an AUTH flow to fix that.
Thanks to @v8ever and his post https://www.indiehackers.com/post/share-your-project-and-ill-try-to-find-you-users-91ebad2e29?commentId=-MtI_KlkmY3gydMuM9S6 I started to share my experience on reddit and attract some users (78 new, 15 recurrent). This has me excited and motivated. This is an idea I want it to build a long time ago but couldn't find motivation until now!
I've been trading the last 4 years, developing strategies to make decent extra money using my data scientist and programming skills, and now I automatized all my strategies and made them an app. https://medium.com/@_jotase/how-to-earn-extra-money-in-trading-in-a-very-easy-and-efficient-way-81e886b4f67e
