Portfolio Tracking for your Assets
Im sharing my growth on a dividend portfolio on YouTube and wanted different ways to visualize my portfolio, including ways to share that with the audience or friends and a nice mobile view. So I started my own tool.
What a ride so far. I can feel my time being stretched too thin so I finally started putting the revenue to good use and hired 2 freelancers to help me out on building out the foundation of T1 for future scale.
T1 was featured in multiple high profile articles and YouTube channels that gave way for lots of new users. We increased prices too (our first pricing change ever) and I personally am now focusing on building the company around the product so other people can take care of the product.
This will be hard. There's lots do to on all fronts.
After 1 year of daily hustle, T1 shows impressive numbers I did not expect or plan when starting this in January 2020.
We crossed all of these KPIs recently:
π©βπ©βπ§βπ§ 10.000 total signups
π₯ 6.000 MAU
π€ 25.000β¬ total revenue
π° 2.500β¬ MRR
π 1 Million monthly page views
I'm currently focused on going from building a product to building a business. Lots of stuff happening and at the same time I feel like I'm acting way too slow. What a ride π. Thanks to everyone who supports and follows along π.
Incredible milestone. We increased our lifetime deal and we are seeing a constant, organic stream of new users.
The lifetime deal is responsible for the revenue explosion while MRR is flat. I will get rid of the lifetime deal and introduce more pricing plans in the near future to make revenue more sustainable by growing MRR instead.

With Tresor One my B2C SaaS product targeted only at the German market of retail investors on stocks and ETFs has tripled payouts for the past 3 months breaking 1000β¬ this month.
My goal for the year to make 1β¬ and now we are crossing 700β¬ MRR. Lifetime deals (3 years worth of monthly sub) are what is moving the payout needle so high this month.
I'm absolutely amazed by the growth of Tresor One right now even though I'm not putting that much time in (I just got a baby girl). Gives me lots of motivation to continue pushing. If I can get MRR to 1000β¬ as a next step I believe I can also move it to 5k or 10k and be able to live off of it.
My learnings along the way
π° Charge - even though you think it will make current users run away
πͺ Continue - there are ups and downs, slow and fast growth weeks - continue through and stuff is compounding
π¬ Talk to users every day
π¨βπ» Go for manual stuff, but then invest in things that add value without you (Community, Team, Open Source, Crowdsourcing, etc). This will make growth itself grow π₯
I'll keep going!
I've gone back and forth on a community. Should I build it myself? Use a forum? Use Slack? How about a facebook group? I had an email feedback form to talk to users. Then switched to a livechat and was overwhelmed with 50+ contacts per day.
Now, Circle.so came along and it's exactly what I wanted and more. At will ultimately replace mailchimp, Crisp, ghost and some custom build stuff for me. I'm now using SSO to let my users login with their existing T1 account and move all contacts to this community.
community.tresor.one
I'm hoping to slowly create a community that helps each other, discusses stocks and the product and overall increase engagement and value for users.
Half a year ago I set the ambitious goal to build a software product that will generate the first β¬ for me in 2020. I started coding January 1st, released in March with only a free tier, released a paid tier later and now hit the huge milestone of 500β¬ MRR π€―.
Iβm shipping features every week and improve the product. Iβm trying to build sharing into it but itβs still a long way to go.
Iβm confident I can increase this to 1000β¬ within the next 3 months although I do have to focus more on customer acquisition as new signups are only about 100 per week (free tier) while I get about 5 new paid customers per week.
Yup, lots to do but itβs SO MUCH FUN and this is a milestone I would not have dreamed of 6 months ago.
Thanks to all users who provide feedback (I get dozens of mails per week) and to the IH community for providing so valuable insights, advice and motivation π.
In June, T1 ticked off multiple milestones π
We reached 1000 Sign Ups as well as over 100β¬ MRR. Feedback from users is still coming in strong.
We had big releases like different time-views and an installable PWA.
MAU growth is too slow so I need to put more effort/budget into user acquisition in one way or another.
Month-to-month comparison:
After months of working and validating, I finally have the first subscribers for Tresor One.
We are at about 800 registrations and quite the engaged userbase with hundreds of emails coming in so far. Fantastic!

One thing I always failed at was to define an MVP, stick to it and then actually sending it out to users. I defined the MVP like this:
π I can create users
π users can log in
π User can create update and delete portfolio activities
π Users can import PDFs from German bank comdirect and activities are auto generated
π User sees words for unsupported PDFs
π Activity feed is loaded per user and displayed
π Dividend activity is displayed with a graph and gain fact
π Buy and import activity is aggregated to show current holdings in a table
Everything can be calculated from user input without any queries to financial data APIs. Thatβsa difficult thing so I wanted to postpone it out of the MVP.
Iβve finished the MVP today πΎπ and itβs available at tresor.raum.sh
Iβve shared the planning of the MVP on YouTube (German π©πͺ)
https://youtu.be/UPjoOBkN3wQ
Iβve invited 10 users as Alpha testers for the initial functionality
I have thought about my next project for quite some time especially during the holidays 2019. As Iβm doing some investing and personal finance improvements, a tracking tool for that with my desired visualizations and features was always missing. So my wife motivated me to start a portfolio tracking tool because
π I would be a ist myself
π It can be monetized
π Itβs a lot of fun
π It serves also my YouTube channel as a good visualization tool
π Itβs B2C and doesnβt require me to do active sales acquisition stuff
Itβs called Tresor and Iβm starting right now.
