Turn your audio into videos you can share on Instagram.
I want it to be easier for sound makers to create beautiful representations of their audio on Instagram and any platform that supports video.
Another Redditor created this amazing tutorial video which not only explains how the app works but also provides some key feedback. I'm feeling so positive about this community!
One of the Redditor's that reached out to me after my post in /r/WeAreTheMusicMakers was Ryan who works at The Drunken Coconut providing services to independent artists. He promised a feature on Turn and here it is. Amazing. I'll be keeping an eye on this and the Happy TV feature.
I totally missed this while but Turn was covered by Happy Mag a few days ago. That is our first piece of press!
The Reddit community made me aware of the fact that Instagram's iOS app mono sums audio so I have begun looking into a possible "solution" for the Turn app.
I was inspired by a chapter in Traction and my Reddit feedback to create a small external utility which allows users to generate a vinyl record image from a piece of their artwork. Given the fact that Turn creates a rotating music video, a vinyl record just works perfectly. I dropped a link to the tool on my Twitter and personally reached out to interested parties on Reddit.
I decided to upgrade the video dimensions to 640 pixels because Instagram was resizing the 540 pixel videos to 480 causing a huge loss in quality. This may slow down the video creator a bit but the visual gain should be large.
I have decided to put an Intercom on the MVP of Turn to continue to catch feedback and bug reports. I'm currently in a 14 day trial and will assess in two weeks if I plan on paying the $30+ fee to keep it running.
I shared the Turn tutorial blog on Reddit and received an amazing response. The Reddit post was viewed 10k times which translated to a bit over 1.5k views on the post. So far, there have been around 100 new Turn videos created.
More importantly, I have dug through the feedback on Reddit and email and have put together a list of over 20 feature requests. I will try to continue having a strong relationship with this incredible community.
