I needed a simple, fairly priced and reliable tweet scheduling application. I took it upon myself to build a web app to fulfil my need. Along the way, I realised it could most definitely be a SaaS app for everyone to use

January 2, 2021 Payment integration with Stripe

A huge step in turning Tweetpop into a profitable SaaS business. I built out the Stripe integration over the course of a week. The Stripe Checkout functionality was a lifesaver and an easy way to manage subscriptions without implementing a huge amount of new features.

Users can now subscribe to a Pro plan which is $14 a month. I also made sure to include a 14 day free trial (which is also supported by Stripe).

Overall, it was much simpler than I thought to make this integration work. The bulk of the challenge came when figuring out how to best use the webhook events to keep user subscription data in sync within the app's DB. Got there with some trial and error though.

Onwards and upwards!

December 24, 2020 Landing page!

Today, I published a product landing page for Tweetpop. Check it out - http://tweetpop.app/

This was a major learning experience for me. I spent time studying landing pages for many SaaS websites. It was really interesting to see the decisions that were made on each page I visited and trying to understand the intent of each.

I learnt quite a lot about marketing + writing copy that is effective in increasing conversion from visitors to users. Coming from a technical background, this was really fun and refreshing. I'm glad to have got out of my comfort zone and I expect my knowledge in marketing to compound over time.

It's really not easy being a solo-founder and being responsible for both sides of the product. But, it does mean that I expand my skillset and take on responsibilities that I might delegate.

Next step is expanding the user base and getting some brand awareness going.

August 13, 2020 Launched app to subset of users!

After working on Tweetpop on and off for the past few months, today I was finally able to send an email to the early-access waitlist with a link for them to try the app for themselves.

At this stage of the process, it is easy to critique your product as its creator and try to perfect every detail before putting it in front of an audience. I have consciously tried to avoid that mindset and just ship without thinking twice. At an early stage like this, something is better than nothing.

Cheers to launching!

July 6, 2020 Early access landing page

I created a landing page powered by ConvertKit. The reason being that I wanted to bring the product into existence in the real-world and let it gain some traction.

I also added analytics to understand the initial user behaviour and ConvertKit provides some great metrics too!
