We've passed $10k MRR!

Last week, we've reached one of our biggest milestones: We've passed $10k MRR!

2019 has been a great year for us. I'm sure 2020 will bring many amazing things as well. I'll be happy to share our big news here again!

Here are some fun facts:

  • Our customers onboarded more than 5M end users in 2019.
  • Companies from 80+ countries opened a UserGuiding account.
  • Onboarding flows were completed 3 times in average by the same end users.

And a few things we've learned:

  • We are 10 people now, were 4 last year. Now we understand why product management tools are so popular & valuable.
  • After we got our seed investment, things got accelerated interestingly.
  • But, money runs out quickly. Very quickly. That's why an expense sheet is very important.
  • Most of the proven growth hacks on the internet are already exploited and/or expired. Try to find your own hack.

    Well done!

    What have you hired for?

Where has most of your growth came from?

    1. 5

      Thank you!

We've hired our 3rd developer and a customer success manager.

Also, we've hired 3 part-time interns for marketing.
One more fun fact: All 10 of us are from the same university!

So far high-quality blog posts, Quora answers, and targeted ads for the bottom of the funnel worked well for us!

I've also tried outbound emails, but haven't really got many results yet.

        Nice!

Will have to ask you some questions about Quora and ads when we get to it :)

We plan on doing highly targeted cold emails, had good success in the past with it.

        1. 1

Of course! Sent you a connection request on LinkedIn.

It seems that 10 employees are too much for only 10k MMR. How many "employees" are taking salaries and how much do you have invested?

I like your product and your page, very cool and impressive! You have a product that could be used by SOOO many users. I know of a start-up that could be interested in something like this.

Thank you for your kind words! Definitely let's talk. I'll send you an email asap!

All of us are taking salaries. They are below country average of course. Because we are currently in a country where USD is valuable, and earning USD, our cost for salaries is actually low.

We got a seed funding for $194k by the way, which we plan to use until August'20 and reach ~25k MRR.

      1. 1

Great to hear that! Keep up the great work.

I shot you an email back, best of luck.

  3. 2

Hmm, 10 employees ... can you share your seed funding amount? Personally, even if I got 200k in funding i wouldn't hire more than 3 people at 10k MRR or below. I guess that's what happen when you raise, you're kinda forced to try and grow super-fast no matter what.

      Thank you for your comment!

      Sure, we raised $194k.

The reason we are 10 people - 7 full and 3 part-time, is just as you said, we plan to grow really fast and our product requires somewhat customer support & success so we need dedicated people to always look for what users are doing, and engage with them proactively.

Also, as I mentioned in another reply a few minutes ago, currently USD is very valuable in our country and we are earning USD so it's relatively cheaper to hire high quality people.

That is excellent well done and good luck in the future

Thank you for your kind words and wishes!

Could you add a pricing plan for startups? Would be more affordable to have a free plan for startups at 300 MAU.

I think that will skyrocket your revenue.

    Other than that, great product!

Thank you for your feedback and kind words! I'll share it with our team.

      Thank you for your comment!

We hired developers, a customer success manager, and part-time interns for content & advertising.

Our first plan was to work with freelancers. But currently USD is valuable in our country, and it's actually cheaper to hire local people than hiring freelancers. Also, we are all from the same university so we have a good harmony!

But please send me an email if you have an offer! We'll definitely need freelancers :)
