We shipped 64,000 of Vidalia onions this season

Corona wound up helping us, as everyone was stuck at home. 2019 shipped weight was 46,000 pounds, so 2020 was approx 40% bump. Not to say we didn't have our challenges. During the growing season, we received over 30" of rain in one weekend, so it sped up the growth process. It also caused a few onions to hold too much water inside the onion, causing a small percentage to leak water when they were shipped. Some exploded. And it's not something you can removed during the inspection period, as the layer is nested inside the onion. It only wound up being less than 1% of our volume, but I take this project personally, so it always stings. We'd just ship makegoods to all affected customers. Just thought I'd share. Milestones are sometimes good, with baked in dark spots. Might as well share both.
