We started WellyBox to solve a pain we had @ our previous business. we spent hours every month searching for expnese prooof documents (receipts etc...). So we built a system to find all this docs for us automatically.

WellyBox has reached 2750 customers really fast, and keep growing.

Our main area was Israel, our familiar audience.
Now that we've got the confidence we needed, we're going international!

October 14, 2020 $1K/mrr

5 months after our first paying customer, we got to $1K / MRR milestone (actually a bit more :-)). Our price point is rather low ($5 subscription fee for freelancers and $15 for SMBs) so it really took a while to gather all of them.

What we do? A receipts & expenses management tool - we collect all your receipts and invoices automatically from your mailbox (es) (you can also upload paper receipts via phone using our amazing WhatsApp chatbot :-))

Some things we learned in the last 5 months:

  1. Support is critical - we use Intercom for users' communication, but the real secret is around answering fast and give customers the help they need. We also use support as sales tool - many times giving coupons to customers or prospects we chat with, I believe ~30% of our paying customers had a chat with our support team (That's me :-)) before putting their CC on

  2. Collect feedback regarding features - currently, this is also done via intercom and our Facebook page. We're looking to integrate a user feedback solution such as @upvoty by @mikeslaats

  3. Test the homepage all the time: Our team is mostly tech, so changes on the homepage is not that easy for us. And yet, we are changing the text on the homepage every few weeks to see results (still not enough traffic for significant AB testing), Conversion rates changed a lot - the last change resulted in an almost 100% lift in CR (from visit --> entering our registration funnel)

April 2020 Got our first paying customer!

At the beginning we couldn't convert our users to paying customers, then we did two things. The first was to offer 20% discount for users paying on the first 24 hours, and the second one, which is more important in my opinion, was to identify the most valuable features and offering them only at the premium version. meaning you could work with the system but to enjoy full automation (which is our claim of fame) you need to pay.

February 20, 2020 First Customer

Show the product to some friends who immediately wanted to test drive it, then on Feb 20th, we got our first "real" customer through word of mouth. The system was amazingly buggy, beyond anything we ever shipped, but we found out that solving a real pain brought us people who were willing to tolerate the product on the service's early days

March 1, 2019 Came up with the idea

Actually, we had this long time before 03.19, but we spoke to some professionals in the space and they were skeptical about our ability to provide a good product. Eventually, we decided to listen to our own thoughts and started talking to potential customers, where the picture we got was completely different, understanding and sometimes even enthusiastic. We learned that talking to potential customers turned out be much more effective and valuable than consulting experts
