A bize-sized newsletter to share marketing opportunities.
Most Indie Hackers struggle with marketing, myself included. Sharing achievable marketing opportunities can help making it a habit. This newsletter delivers you bite-sized marketing advice directly in your inbox.
As of today, 500 people have decided to learn more actional marketing using WhereToPost.email! With one month from idea to 500 subscribers is much more than I expected! Thank you everyone! Off to the next 500 or 5000? :D If you haven't seen the new knowledge-base, go and check it out
I've spend some time to make the information of the previous newsletters more use-able and actionable. The archive has it's limitations in this regard: It's not searchable and doesn't allow for categories.
Say hi to the WhereToPost knowledge base. This way, you can access the information faster and categorized by type. It also comes with a handy advantage: Later updates can be added without any additional emailing.
Following the great feedback on the previous newsletter and numerous projects being launched on the three sites I wanted to add one more to the mix: Owwly. A nicely designed maker-friendly community. As before, you can read the previous newsletter on knowledge-base.
To celebrate the third and first real edition of the newsletter to go out to actual subscribers I've given three simple and easy sites to submit to:
You can find all three sites in the knowledge base!
Launching Where To Post on ProductHunt was an exciting day. Hundreds of upvotes and sign ups to the newsletter. At the end, WTP reached over 300 upvotes and a similar number of subscribers. The following days more sign ups followed :) People loved the examples and I've been more than happy to have written the second example to demonstrate what I've got in mind. All in all: a successful day.
While in the writing-flow for the ProductHunt example, I've already considered adding a second example. Why? Two reasons played into the decision:
Either ways, after a few more hours the second example Marketing on Reddit was written down and send to myself again :)
ProductHunt is surely one of the major sites people are interested in. Naturally this is also one of the sites people have most likely already launched on - or planning to. Both reasons make it a good example to write about. Launching on ProductHunt became an example I would go for to have something to 'show' as an example. Sadly, I would write this newsletter edition only to myself - but that's fine, as anyone can view it for free.
For my personal blog I've discovered Buttondown as a suitable and easy newsletter service. No clutter and simple markdown emails to get the job done.
This and my desire to support other indie hackers made the decision which service to use for Where To Post easy. Say hi to Where To Post on Buttondown. This should do to validate the idea and get started sharing ideas for the time coming :)
After some chats with another indie hacker I've made the decision to give Where To Post a try and see if people like the idea. Over a few glasses of wine I have put together a little website with basic information and started writing. The domain, WhereToPost.email, was easily decided on as it matches the project very well.
