As a UX consultant, I kept being asked how I knew what kind of design workshop to run, and when. So to answer that question, I made a physical deck of workshops I rely on when I work with digital product teams.

August 20, 2020 Launch day! We've shipped 215 pre-orders!

After a bit of a stop start with the warehouse, losing a load of packaging - all 215 pre-orders have been fulfilled!

It's been nearly 2 years in the making. So to see those orders to fulfil on Shopify go down to 0 is such a huge relief.

However, it feels like the calm before the storm. I'm really excited to see what kind of impact it has with so many people potentially talking about and sharing the product.

It's been designed to be remarkable - people can't help but talk about it. That's the marketing strategy that wins out, long term.

Make something worth talking about - that lives up to its promise.

Simple in theory, hard in practice.

Here's to the next 6 months, where I hope to grow Workshop Tactics even more and make another 200 orders!

If you'd like to support the launch, give this a retweet (and checkout the sweet video):

June 9, 2020 £6000 in pre-order revenue!

With launch day around the corner (and the final sample in transit), I've just hit a new milestone of £6000 in total revenue. A crazy amount to consider it's a niche physical product that has yet to even launch! Very excited to see where we go next.

May 29, 2020 Workshop Tactics content now available for free

I've made the decision to put all of the contents of the Workshop Tactics card deck online for free, including the system that helps you decide which tactic to run for your team.

I'll see how this plays out, but my hypothesis is that showing the content and the system of the product will lead to more sales, as this generosity builds trust and authority.

May 12, 2020 Raised price from £59.99 to £89.99

I've been building up to the decision to increase the price. Reading how higher price equates to higher value, it seems a no brainer. Doubling down on making the content free and accessible means that the cost value is in owning something physical, I want to place the emphasis of the power that owning something has.

April 16, 2020 Pre-production sample back from the factory

There's a few things to tweak and iron out. Developing a physical product is hard because the feedback loop is very long. Especially when you get to the stage of working with an off-shore manufacturer.

It'll be worth it in the end, it seems in this digital age - physical things are scarce and sought after.
