Big update! To make a long-story very short I have bought back my entire project and company from my venture capital investors.
Whoot! Independent, self-funded, and very, very proud!
It's been a long journey of pivots and restarts and more, besides the fact that we survived a global pandemic and are now watching, anxiously, an uncertain financial and economic future.
Ultimately, it just made sense to take back ownership of the project end-to-end which will give us more freedom to do...
... well, anything we fucking want.
This is the amazing thing about being bootstrapped and independent! It's not that you can't have a huge measure of control and an amazing lifestyle with venture financing but it's obviously not the same thing. And gratefully, things are headed in the right direction — small but very, very hopeful. For instance:
