MVP Ready 🥳

Hello all 👋

Meet Zentab https://zentab.co/

⛳️ My goal is to help everyone in a company stay in the loop and enhance productivity.
😩 Forgotten birthdays, missed announcements, missed new joiners, quick access to company tools.

I’ve built a simple, lightweight new tab extension for companies. It’s like a morning newspaper about your company on your new tab.

📢 Company updates
🎉 Co-worker's birthdays
🙋‍♂️ New joiners
🔖 Quick access to all tools
🖤 Dark mode

All on your new tab 🧘‍♂️

I understand you don’t want to see these all day, so after a while, it changes to,
📝 A simple todo list
🎵 A productivity music player
📅 Quick access to the next meeting on your calendar.

Built fully customizable with a companion web app, if someone doesn’t like a todo list or music player, they can replace it with something else. Say a quick meeting scheduler.

Want to see a demo? https://demo.zentab.co/ basically this will appear on your new tab (this is for demo).

I believe in modern times when everyone is working remotely, it’s important to keep everyone in the loop. I’d love to read your thoughts before I post anywhere else!

Love the idea and the visual examples in the landing page. It took me a minute to understand what you meant by "on your new tab", so I think non-technical folk will be even more confused, I suggest thinking of an even simpler explanation. Also I am not convinced with the phrase " But no one wants to see this all day (...) " , sounds counter-productive to show an advantage by calling out a weakness of your product, I love the idea of having flexibility and changing the content because I agree that it becomes tiring but pitch it positively is my suggestion. Congrats on the launch, looks great!

Thanks for the feedback! Looks like we have some work to do on our messaging and landing page copy, will surely work them out! We also have a video coming in with actual product working, I hope that would help too. Thanks again!

Fantastic looking product! I would be thrilled to use it, my own company is small still, but at my day job I work at a company that's about the size of your target market, so I'll give you feedback from that perspective. 🤓

Currently things work roughly in the following way:

    • We use a tool called Charlie HR, and it will post to Slack if it's someone's birthday.
    • I often look into my calendar to see "what now?".
    • We currently share interesting articles and books to read in our #goodreads channel. I would like to have something like that on my new tab. It would help reduce the exploding number of channels in Slack.
    • The way I usually jump between the tools is by typing Ji+Enter, and it takes me to Jira, because the browser has remembered the URLs. (talking about new tab experience)
    • We spend time in standups reiterating what the goals of this week are, and how far along are we of achieving them. This is annoying and a time waste.
    • We also use a bot on slack to report our progress, it's called Standuply.

What I feel like could be better is the following:

    • I had to "discover" my workflows, shortcuts and daily routines by myself. In the beginning I was highly unproductive just because I spent a lot of time finding stuff, because my browsing history was blank and I had no idea "what now?".
    • It would have been very helpful if I had my new tab already set up for me, with the most important links, this week's goals, my current tasks and meetings for today.
    • It took me a while to memorize the names of people in the company, so I think that the feature to "meet new hires" is less is important to people already in the company, as opposed to to a hypothetical "meet people around you" feature.
    • It would be nice to have a dashboard of this week's goals for the team, to avoid reiterating them on standups.

Overall, I think that this product would be very helpful as part of the onboarding process, where all your stuff is already set up and personalized for you.

I hope this is helpful to you. Great looking product, keep it up!

Wow! This is by far the most detailed, yet most comprehensive feedback I've had. Thank you so much for taking time to think and write them down. I'll take some time to process the ideas :D but I am definitely going to incorporate a lot of them! Thanks again, I'll keep you posted!

    Congrats!!! Great job!! Looks great!

Great Design! Very clean and simple.

    1. 1

      Thank you for the feedback!

  5. 1

I love the design. Congrats on the launch. All the best:-)

  6. 1

    Hey awesome. Good look!

  7. 1

I have tabby cats. You are up agains some tough competition TBH.

    1. 2

Looks nice! I have some plans for minimal versions to give a cleaner feel, one idea is to pull images from Unsplash and show them on new tab, then something with cats or dogs, however, I don't have plans to go for an "everyone" version for the general users, so there may not be much competition :)

      1. 1

Ha, I just meant I like my current new tab extension; would be hesitant to change. But your extension looks great too :)

BTW just last week we made smart TV apps that pull images from unsplash. If you decide to pursue that path and have any issues let me know, I maybe able to help you with that one. In an interesting twist our TV app is called ZenPic, hahaha.

        1. 2

haha if one of us gets very big and ends up acquiring the other one, we don't need to change the name :D btw I am installing ZenPic on my TV! :) I was looking for something like this but couldn't find it. Does this work with the default screensaver on the TV?

          1. 1

so... I just discovered this thing that is made by unsplash

          2. 1

Thank you so much for trying! You are the best! Are you using Apple TV or Android version? I'm the android dev so I can only answer regarding that one, my friend is the iOS developer.

If it's android, I have not yet looked into how to enable it as a screensaver. but that is a good feature and I will add it. Right now have to run the app to display photographs.

This is awesome! How do you plan on acquiring customers? Just curious about the marketing strategy

    1. 1

Still figuring this out. I am talking to a few companies that I know personally, I think it makes sense for companies with 25+ people to around a 100-150 maybe. More than that, they might already have a system in place.

  9. 1

Tailwind rules! Quick question: How do you foresee your pricing strategy working out? Are you going to play around with the pricing? $1 / month seems difficult to scale.

    1. 2

Obviously - I think we'd go $5/employee per month once we've chalked out all the features, customizations, integrations, etc. I could also see a freemium model where we could promote a product on the tabs like "Tool of the day". But I am still figuring out how that would come across for people.

  10. 1

Congrats! I love the pricing strategy. Looks promising.

I am wondering how the employee & tool of the week will work?
Is that validated with customers that they want these features? I can't imagine my manager to update these things every week. Even to have employee of the week can be tricky, because it can create unhealthy ego competition.

Otherwise, it can be pretty useful tool, thanks for building that :-)

    1. 1

Thank you! We have a lot of ideas/assumptions to validate. The idea behind tool of the week is to provide a free version to companies, and we monetize via the tool of the week. That will be our advertisement. Once we have enough users, I think that could a nice way to promote products, without being intrusive :)

      1. 1

I get it, interesting :) But if the "tool of the week" is not used in the company, I will quickly understand that it is advertisement. It is tricky, because there can be personal information and suddenly you place that "ad" there. I would love to hear the users, though.

Or maybe it is because I am from Europe and GDPR is kinda strong here :))

        Keep going, looks good! :)

        1. 1

Yes :)) that's where I hope the paid plan would work out. No ads, or even our branding in the paid plans. I am also secretly hoping to place the "ads" that are good products, and not just post anything that comes across, maybe a "vetted" advertisement. Still too early to know :)

          1. 1

I would be interesting to watch the journey, let us know! :) Fingers crossed, product looks useful and UI is yummy!

            1. 1

I will! Thank you so much Semy for taking time to send the feedback! I really appreciate it!

  11. 1

Very cool idea! Love the feel and UI/UX. Very sleek. The only suggestion would be the ability to customize or/and change over the day. As someone else has mentioned, I would not want to see the same thing all day. Maybe have a news section that pops up news related to your company as the day goes on? Great job though. Seems like a great niche.

    1. 2

Hi - we already have this!! Can you please head over here https://demo.zentab.co/ and click the right arrow? the next screen is the one that would go on all day. We are also building out full customization ability, with a cleaner version. That means people can add widgets they like or remove them altogether and use it only when needed. The main company news stays accessible all the time. (but not shown always).

I think we have to work on our messaging, thank you so much for the feedback!

  12. 1

The landing page looks great! Maybe you would like to introduce your tool on my side project https://owwly.com
I think you can find there some new users and gain extra traffic ;)

    1. 1

I will submit for sure! Thanks for sending me this link! I Will let you know after posting.

  13. 1

Looks very nice! Sadly, no extension for Firefox.
    The link https://docs.zentab.co/ is broken.
Nothing happens when clicked on "Get chrome extension". Same with Login.

    1. 1

We'll work on the firefox version soon, planning to do it based on how our customers use it. If a big company come in and ask for firefox, I'll build it right away :D Will update the docs, it's still some work in progress! Thank you!
