Got my first customer lined up! (I think)

this product

I posted a month or two ago about how I had acquired my first true B2B lead for Soccercruit (soccercruit.com) after that lead followed me on Twitter and I did some cold outreach. I have since had a great kickoff call with him and he sounds very excited to get his club on board early next year. This is perfect because I still have to finish out the product and launch by the end of the year and having a potential customer lined up makes it so much more motivating!

While I know I am not guaranteed to convert this club, I am very certain it is going to work out based on our conversations thus far. During our call we realized we have similar pasts and even share mutual connections which is huge in building this relationship. I focused the call on getting to know him better, making sure to not make it sound like a sales pitch. This is something I keep hearing about and most recently I got great advice from an episode of Startups for the Rest of Us.

Now all I need to do is follow up on the action items:

  • Launch Soccercruit Beta by the end of year and get my 50 or so pre launch signups started using the app so I can get some quality feedback
  • Build out the club and billing portion of the app (not as important as I could send an invoice to this first customer and worry about that after. I'm using Laravel and setting up Stripe billing is fairly easy)
  • Schedule a demo after the holiday season to go over Soccercruit's club offerings, which is basically just an extra admin layer for club administrators to get their athletes setup on the Soccercruit platform.

I am very excited for what 2019 has to offer, but I am currently hyper focused on shipping Soccercruit this month so I can start making this dream of bootstrapping a product a reality.

Have any thoughts or feedback about soccercruit.com, or happen to know any youth soccer players aspiring to play in college? Please let me know :)

This is a great execution. What are you planning to charge?

    1. 1

I have been working hard on this piece and constantly iterating on it. I am planning on starting with a simple pricing model with one paid plan for both B2C (youth soccer players) and B2B (American youth soccer clubs). I'm leaning towards $9 / month for the consumer and $29 / team / month for the club. I will be pushing for clubs to sign up for an annual plan at $25 / team /month as it will make most sense for them to commit yearly.

This is all still to be further iterated on after I start.

I think you should charge more from the clubs something like 100$ per month or more or may be charge them per application received.

What do you mean by application received? I'm sure I will raise my prices over time but I am trying to price how the market is currently worth. I have two competitors who charge per club and not by team. I want to be more flexible than them to capture more clients. I also charge more than them on a per team basis.
