Would love feedback on my new side project!

I wanted to start 2017 off in a good way, so I decided to pull back a few features that were in the works and JUST LAUNCH IT. Audiebox is a platform that allows you to securely store your important information (financials, medical info, passwords, etc.) so that loved ones can access it if need be. There's still a lot of features being worked on, but I just had to get it out there. Check it out (if you don't sign up, feedback on the concept works just as well for me 😀) and let me know what you think: https://audiebox.com

Thanks for sharing! The first thing I ask everyone who shares is this: Who is your target customer? Who do you most envision using your app, loving it, telling their friends about it, etc?

Right now it seems like you're targeting everyone. Which is great if you can swing it, but it's just hard to find a foothold that way.

If you target a specific niche, then you can make them feel special by tailoring your marketing copy directly to their needs. And your features, too. And you know where to find them online, and how to speak their language, and address their concerns, and advertise to them.

For example, let's say programmers take you up on this offer first, because they have the most assets online to protect. What do programmers care about? Well, security. Personally, I'd want to know:

    • When and how do my loved ones get my data? Is it a dead man's switch?
    • How do you prevent some impersonator from getting my data?
    • Your site is a treasure trove for hackers. What are you doing to protect my data? Who is auditing your security?

Soccer moms, on the other hand, might have a totally different set of concerns. Different groups care about different things!

Here are a few more observations I wanted to share:

    • There's no favicon right now, or at least it's not working for me.
    • A lot of the copy on your site focuses on features and functionality. What you want to focus on instead are benefits and emotions… stuff like "Stay safe" and "Don't lose your data forever".
    • Given the secure nature of the data you're requesting, you should add a lot more about security, and about yourselves personally, and some testimonials as soon as you can get them.

Your website looks great, by the way. I like the design a lot. Congrats on launching!

Great comment. Seems very broad, which is good in the long term but it's hard to get credit card numbers from people, needs to be more relatable. Might be good to have some use cases too.

Something to consider to help with this might be partnering with folks like financial advisors who's clients could really use something like this and have money to spend. People often have conversations about what to do in emergencies with their Financial Advisors (life insurance, writing wills, etc).

Site looks nice otherwise though, especially for just starting.

    Hey, congratulations on launching.

What I didn't see on the marketing site was some indication of how loved ones can access information in an emergency? What constitutes an emergency? How do I control who has access to what?

To me, those seem like the sort of questions that customers might want to see answered before signing up?

    Good luck.

Thank for the feedback! I'll definitely take a look at clarifying those points.

I think you should check out Estate Assist: https://techcrunch.com/2014/10/01/estate-assist-wants-to-provide-estate-planning-for-the-social-media-age/

They were purchased by Docusign and shut down. I think you should pursue the same market as them. I see a real need for this product for estate planning purposes. Many spouses write passwords in wills or in files. My father died this year and my mother didn't know where any of his passwords were or how to do taxes and find the financial information.
