Combination of founding data intelligence company and open data platform
The idea is to create an open data platform, this is where the passion is. However, to launch it with an existing user and also to make a living ourselves we would like to found a company exploiting the position close to this new data platform.
Keeping the two separate, to avoid dilution of the open character of the data platform. Attract other contributors to the platform, etc. - Me
Unnecessarily complex; founding one platform is hard enough. Are you going to wait until both are ready for launch? Can the open data platform itself not create revenue for you to sustain a living - Other me
What are your thoughts on this dilemma?
A third possibility would be the open data platform providing potential customers with the knowledge of the possible services they would need when using this data. This is where your data intelligence company would be able to fill the gap between supply and demand since there will be a limited supply.
From this perspective it would seem logical to launch the open data platform first and respond to the demand of services arising from this availabiliy of open data.
