How Do You Manage Email Identity Theft?

Hello,
As a creator who is trying to get ideas and products out into the world, I imagine my name and email address can be found easily.
The title may be a bit of an overreaction, but I get emails wanting confirmations for accounts I never created, or spammy overseas ad boards. It freaks me out a bit, I always feel a little violated when I receive notices like these, or ones stating I need to change a password. Any tips? Is this common?
