I've not been here long, but I've been really enjoying the support and camaraderie that the community seems to have. It seems like the obvious place to talk about launch day!
I've been working on Market Monitor for just over 6 months as a side project. I've had some great input from some members of the main job on things like design and getting ready for the social side of the launch, but overall it's been down to me to get the code written and the tool ready.
I think the tools works. It will take the information that you give it, and feed you back news about your business, your competitors, their content releases, and your industry.
But will people like it?
Today is going to be nail-biting, but I'm looking forward to it it.
If you happen to want to help out, the most direct thing of course is to sign up at Market Monitor.
Here's some other things you could do if you so wished:
Thanks, and until a share of some (hopefully) good results...

You've got this, Jason! Upvoted!
Cheers :)
Don't get too stressed about today. It feels bigger than it is. It is just the start of your search for product market fit. The real work starts tomorrow! :D
That's some quality advice, thanks :)
Have upvoted 100% I launched my app https://www.cheqqly.com/ but sucked at it . Wish first got support from here :)
Hey Jason, congrats on launching your product!
How would this help me for my product if I already use Google Alerts? Is it more or less the same or do you have any advantage here?
Hi Petr,
This is meant to build on the process that someone might already have with Google Alerts. For one, it'll do the work of trying to make sure that an article is contextually about your business or a competitor business rather than just an article which contains the name.
For instance, someone we were tracking in testing was a company called Edit. A Google Alert for Edit would fire more often than we'd like, so Market Monitor checks that the article is also about the industry that Edit operate in, namely the marketing sector.
There's a lot of similarities with Google Alerts, but I think we're adding a lot of improvement to it too.
Free sign up, so feel free to check it out – we don't take any payment information until you're happy with the product.
Thanks
Jason
Good luck.
Is this feature part of whichever API you must be using to either get semantically-tagged news articles or to run the text analysis on them?
At the moment we're running text analysis on them, but I've got a system in the works to semantically tag them ourselves – mainly to help with the learning side when people up- and down-vote articles based on how relevant they found them.
You should really explain this in your FAQ on the site, as this was my biggest question.
It's there now @redhale, thanks for the prompt to make it happen!
Totally agree, and it’ll happen tomorrow I hope. Thanks!
I have just 3 sample queries in Google Alerts (like match to my specific domain name) and I receive one notification in months, so further filtering is not needed now. I don't plan to track competitors at the moment, I think that for small makers it is more of a distraction.
But anyway good luck with the product and thanks for the answer!
Coming from a digital marketing background, I already see this tool would be useful for nearly all types of online businesses. I think launch is usually the easy part. The real work begins with getting customers.
You should probably get a content marketing strategy in the works. I was greatly inspired by GrooveHQ: https://www.groovehq.com/blog/how-we-built-a-5m-business-with-content-marketing
Good article, thanks!
Going to give it a go.
BTW I don't think it makes sense for a more expensive plan to have lower alert frequency.
Well spotted @NinoSkopac! Not sure when that crept in, but it's sorted now. Shoot me a message if you're not getting the output you expect!
Congrats for your launch Jason. I have just signed up and have added two competitors to test but no news was found. Maybe it doesn't work retroactively? I think the price tag is too high for your value proposition at the moment, but I liked the idea. Cheers.
Thanks @gpires – there's a little delay to the first bit of news, but let me know if you still haven't got any. Happy to hear any thoughts on pricing too, they're very malleable in these early days.
Nice tool and congratulations on the launch Jason!
Congrats! Upvoted on PH. :)
Keep the hustle ON
Good luck @JasonDilworth!
P.S. Based on some comments about Google Alerts I've seen, you may want to put a super obvious section on your landing page about how you're differentiated/better.
I think you're absolutely right @Ryan217, and I think that's going to have to be right near the top of my todo list!
It's there now @Ryan217, thanks for the prompt :)
Nice, looking good. Can't wait to hear how all the launching went.
your website is cool
great look, best of luck from Mexico!
Hey @guzmanad would this work for you https://www.cheqqly.com/ ? Lemme know
looks good but I'm not sure.
Great! Still looking for users :) How did you go about getting users?
congrats on the launch, best of luck!
Thanks @mags, I'll be grey by the end of the day no doubt!

Cheers @buddy!
There should be an explainer video out this week, but essentially you get any mention of your competitors in the news, as well as any blog content they release themselves.
30 day, no obligation trial, and you'll get information within 10 minutes or so. We don't take any payment details until you're ready to pay, so no risk if you want to try it out.
Thanks for the feedback!
