Hi all,
As I’m getting closer to launching Yoodonate, I’ve have been thinking a lot more about launching a blog. I know I need one for many reasons, not least the SEO benefits.
I already have a list of what I think are good blog post topics in my “backlog”, but I don’t know which to start with, and how long the blog posts should be, style of voice, etc. It’s been a long time since I’ve done any proper writing!
So, is there a beginners playbook / guide that you would recommend?
Thanks in advance,
Sam
Stumbled across this post so not sure if you're still struggling with this - I didn't see a blog on your website so assuming y'all never really picked it up but figured I'd drop a comment seeing there hasn't been one.
If you are still exploring blogging I have a few quick tips and would be down to chat if you want.
Blogging serves two purposes: SEO and lead generation.
SEO
On the SEO front you want to blog about topics in your industry and use keywords related to those topics so that Google will rank your website higher. I'd imagine 'giving' 'donating to charity' for folks looking to donate and 'fundraising' or 'crowdfunding' for folks using the platform would be relevant.
Knowing the core topics you want to be known for and the keywords gives you an idea for the types of posts to create and will give your site a nice bump on Google for organic search in your industry
LEAD GEN
On the lead gen front it's about using your posts to get people to take action on your site, whether it's to join a mailing list, sign up for a trial, attend a webinar... ect.
Given that, knowing the keywords is important but you also need to frame the posts in a way that they'll add value/answer a question your prospects are asking. This encourages them to convert and build a relationship with your business.
SUMMARY
Really, you can go a long way picking 3-5 topics you want to be known for and do a bit of digging to find 5-10 keywords for each of them to monitor a bit. Check out what other people are writing and repurpose it a bit for your own site/put your own spin on it. Write a thought piece on a common question your prospects ask. Even blogging once a week (or heck even once every other week) can have a benefit on your site's traffic and rank.
Sidenote: I'm on here for a platform I created to make this process a bit easier (identifying topics and keywords for those topics, generating content ideas for those keywords) so down to chat about that if you're interested as well.
I really appreciate the detailed response. Launching a blog is still on my to-do list, and you’ve just brought this back on my radar. Would love to chat more with you about your product and how you could help.
No problem! Will shoot ya an email
