Polar is a desktop app I launched about 2 months ago. Polar makes it easy to manage your reading by keeping all your documents in one place and allows you to annotate them.
We launched in early Oct and since then we've had about 18k unique users visit the site.
I've been able to convert about 6500 of those to MAUs... so about 33%.
I'm trying to benchmark that against other apps - specifically webapps.
Since Polar is Electron based I'm worried we're losing some % of the users as they won't want to run a desktop app.
The whole download and install process ends up losing some users.
Can anyone comment on this or perhaps share some of their user numbers for comparison?
Depends on the source of traffic, cost of app, and falloff really. Also really depends on your usage here of MAU since it sounds nonstandard.
Those numbers could be very good. But if they all stop using the app after a day then it's no good.
