Indie Hackathon: Help Fellow Hackers Ship Their Products
What do you think of the idea of holding a weekly/monthly hackathon where we get together and help some fellow Indie Hackers to build and ship MVPs (or simple features)? We could have people propose their product/feature and we could pick a few to work on.
I think it would be good for the community and give some of us the impulse we need to finally ship. I also think it would be fun to collaborate with like-minded individuals. Hopefully those who received help would feel some accountability to the group and actually follow through with their IH dreams.

definitely, if the product is passed the idea stage and market and customer validation is completed. Even better would be if there is a sign of product-market fit I would love to help fellow indie hackers develop the next MVP :)

Doing a Startup Weekend (basically a hackathon) was one of the best (and most fun) learning experiences I've had. Would be great to do one with the IH community.

My opinion would be to make it short to encourage proper project scoping.
Projects/Features should be open for anyone to submit but are “chosen” by having Hackers volunteer to help. If you like an idea and feel like you could help in some way, put your name down! The project owner is responsible for scoping the MVP (which can be adjusted by Hackers as necessary of course).
I imagined setting up a group video chat to allow everything to be done remotely. Opening it up for all Hackers, regardless of location, will get the best result.
Love the idea, Skyler. I think it would be great to focus on one hacker’s project at a time; that way it is a meaningful and significant difference. This would also maintain the focus of the Hackathon.

I like the idea of really impacting one project but maybe that feels more like doing free work? I wonder if the competition isn’t a motivator for a lot of people. If a lot of people are interested, it would be easier to manage them all by splitting into smaller groups. I’d say that if only 2-3 people offer to help, then just one project would be great.
Disagree! Hackathons need competition. Also, who gets to pick the 1 lucky idea?

I am doing something similar. Currently building a product in 72 hours. An idea like this might actually be awesome to get over the fear of launch & just ship it.

pioneer.app, is doing something similar. I would monitor that for a month to see how this goes.
Also I have been thinking organizing something of the sort as well. Getting people to commit is the real issue, wisdom of the crowd is not enough in these games.
From having organzied multiple hackathons in undergrad, these kind of things are best done in-person, where people can see other people beating them to the finish line, adrenaline rush and all...

2.The entire code of the open source project and its progress must be fully transparent to those who are participating in the project.
3.A developer can alarm the indiehacker community of a new project by starting the post with the word "#aosp"
Wow @sky this would be a great thing to do. We all come from different backgrounds with different skills sets. I think if we can out brains together we can come up with truly great products and form companies out of it. Whats the next step of action to actualize on this? I could create a slack channel where we could collaborate on projects. I am great and passionate about marketing but struggling at shipping my product. I could appreciate some help and willing to onboard any Indie hacker as an equal partner and i'll handle the rest of the backlog.
I volunteered to be an Indie hacker community ambassador in Nairobi to promote this wonderful platform to more people here. It would be selfish of me not to. I've received great value from this platform since i joined. I read somewhere we could create $1 billion companies if 5 people capable of creating $100 million companies joined forces.
