Here's a totally free one that people on IH don't tend to try (early) enough:
I spend some time researching people online who I think would benefit from using my product - and then I send them an email explaining how I'd like to help them and why.
Takes a bit of time, but completely free and replicable.
How do you find them or their email address ?
LinkedIn or their personal/company website mainly.

What are you sharing with them?
My whole YouTube channel is about Elixir screencasts. I posted it to /r/elixirlang and basically said, "here are many hours of free screencasts that teach you the thing this sub is focused on".
They loved it. It stayed at the top of the subreddit for 2 full days and I nearly doubled my subscriber count. Since the content was valuable and useful to them, I couldn't imagine them banning me for sharing.
I believe direct sales is the most underrated channel. As @louisswiss already pointed out, I completely agree. You also get to understand the dynamics of how people think about your product, what are their concerns and whether it is needed. You can then follow a pattern to adjust your own understanding of how a market works for you, your competitors and much much more. If someone is willing to invest time with you on the call, its already a huge progress!
