I have been looking for an alternative to goodreads for years. Signed up to book club, but it doesn't fulfill the expectation it set. Sorry to say that.
To help you, let me list what I want: a simple, easy, web, collection database where you can enter books in big batches and it not only list it, but also organize them by area . Easy scan your books entry system. My dream would be: send a video of your book shelves and we identify the books by their spines.
This is something I even considered doing myself, but couldn't find d a spine database.
