About a week back I started a discussion about trying to measure and map the IH Economy. There was some interest so I went and begun doing the analysis for the first part -- the product directory.

This is really cool! I missed your post when you originally put it up. I'm planning on doing this, and adding other areas, on a quarterly basis.
Like you said there is definitely some interesting insights to find. My main objective with this analysis was to get a gauge of the median income I should be realistically aiming for with a side-project.

Thanks! I completely agree. For example I don't include revenue figures for the products that are featured in the podcast but not in the product directory.
My thinking is that the IH sources can serve as a good survey to infer statistics about the online bootstrapped-maker population. What are your thoughts on this and how I can improve it moving forward?
