I've got an idea I find interesting and am thinking about the whole MVP fast-launch process, and also the common indie hackers remain that nothing should be free. So I'd like to charge on day 1.
However, I'm at a bit of a loss as to whether offering a free trial counts as "not charging" -- and whether a feature light but not time-limited "free plan" is better than a time-limited "free trial."
Do you all have any insight on this?
Thanks!

I think it depends on the type of business you're planning. If it's something in the consumer space that depends on lots of users and going viral to succeed (e.g. Skype), then you probably need a feature-light freemium plan. If it's a service for businesses, you'd probably want a time-limited free trial.
