“What's the ONE Thing you can do such that by doing it everything else will be EASIER... or UNNECESSARY?” - Gary Keller, The ONE Thing
=====
A couple weeks ago I finished a long email campaign for a client - a personal trainer launching a workout and diet program in the Paleo niche.
He’d already written the emails, but needed me to run them through my editing checklist because he was worried about conversions.
And after going through his entire sequence, I realized that he was making a BIG MISTAKE that happens all too often…
He had TOO MANY goals…
And too many different Calls to Action…
“Join my Facebook group”
“Join my free program”
“Join my paid membership program”
“Follow me on Instagram” and so on
And when I pointed out that he was trying to do too many things at once, he agreed immediately.
His priority was getting people to join his paid membership program, but he didn’t push the program until well into his email sequence.
My feedback was simple:
“If your goal is to get people into your paid membership program...why don’t we just focus on that?”
So that’s what he did…
And it makes sense because one of the BEST ways to get people to buy your offer is to simply show them your offer more often (if you’re familiar with recency and frequency biases, this is obvious).
Which leads me to the title of this post and a valuable #LaunchLesson
Instead of trying to do a lot of things at once, I encourage you to think of the RULE OF ONE:
BONUS: Instead of trying to target three groups at once, who is your primary (ONE) target? Can you create a tailored message… and offer… to this one group of people?

“What's the ONE Thing you can do such that by doing it everything else will be EASIER... or UNNECESSARY?”
Gary Keller calls this the “Focusing Question.”
And that’s the point.
Whether we’re talking about launches, income or fitness goals, we tend to have a long laundry lists of things we want to do.
That’s OK.
But the Focusing Question helps us think in terms of LEVERAGE…
It’s asking us to prioritize and think about the ONE thing that will make the greatest impact within a specific time period.
Want to get to the other things on your list?
No problem. But if you can only pick ONE - to do TODAY - what will you choose?
Now, there are people out there who say “I’m a good multitasker.”
Well, let them…
Not you… because you know that the key to getting ahead faster… and easier… is to pick that ONE thing that will make the biggest difference.
