My side project crossed 1000 registered users 🤩. What should I do next?

My current side project Quick Code (https://www.quickcode.co) just crossed 1000 registered users today.

I am working as an indie hacker on this project. so I have confusion on which part should I focus first from these options?

  • Team building
  • Community building
  • Launching more features
  • Marketing
  • Business

What do you think? Looking for other indie hackers tips and suggestions.

Hey Keyul, congratulations! Super happy for you. :)

Like Vez said, you are in a great position to talk to your current users. See what they want and build from there. You could ask any of the following:

    • "Which of the following should I focus on first?" (team building, community building, more features, etc...)
    • "What features would you like to see added to the platform?" - helps develop a better product
    • "Which courses have you tried so far?" - helps you with marketing
    • "What skills are you looking to learn?" - helps you with marketing
    • "What is your current programming experience?" - helps you with marketing
    • "Is there anything you'd change about our platform?" - helps develop a better product
    • "Is there anything you dislike about our platform?" - helps develop a better product

PS: I really like using typeform.com for user surveys. They have a free plan you might want to check out. (I don't get anything for recommending them. I just like their platform. They've increased my response rates in the past.)

Congrats! Site looked very cool! You really have to work analytics right now. Who are your users? What are they choosing? Why are the opting for that and not others? Without this all of the things you listed on your next move are pointless. What kinda team do you need? What is my target for a community? Is it programmers or users? What language? Marketing cant be cost effective until you know who to market to! Same is true for features. Which items need features? You get where I am going. be happy to help just hit me up.

If you don't mind me asking how did you get your first 1000 users?

Improved SEO and signup process. It helped to increase daily signup rate. Also, publish daily new courses list on our blog that creates traffic.

Get feedback from your users first would be my suggestion if monitization is not a big factor at the moment. See what they hate/like/can't live with/can't live without, etc. They'll typically lead you towards the right direction. Awesome job and I wish you much success.

can't agree more. users' feedbacks are very useful. What type of questions should I ask to get more insight?

Besides the ones I mentioned, something along the lines of:

        • What courses most interest you
        • What features would you like to see
        • How can we make this easier for you to use
        • What don't you like about our service

          Thank you Vez for examples

I just checked your site. It is nice looking. New developers will surely sign up.

What matters is the programming content that they are signing up for.

The number of languages you are saying you will teach them are too many for a single tutor especially since you want it to be free.

What you have to do is to provide the first chapter of each language. The readers will automatically want to ask questions. That will bring up the community. Then as the number of users increase and they return to read chapter 2, you think about marketing.

Thank you Ben for this idea. It can be useful to trigger users to come back to the site.

If I were you I would give the Indiehacker podcast with Pieter levels a listen. Both Courtland and Pieter have had success with creating a community around their website and I'm seen an opportunity for you too :-)
