A friend tipped me off to IndieHackers, thought I would dig it. He was right. It was perfect timing because I was just embarking on a bootstrapped business and it was great to find a community of like-minded individuals.
As for me, I've had a number of careers -- book editor, film curator, architecture gallery curator, architectural designer, and now technologist and indie hacker. I lived in Rome for a year and spent a year at a Google X startup. I am a "self-taught" coder, though that is a misnomer because I've learned from the internat and people, without whom it wouldn't have been possible. I lead a technology group for a worldwide architecture firm and have presented at a variety of conferences in different disciplines -- SEGD Xlab, Autodesk University, SXSW.
I always have a side project going. When I recruit for positions at my firm, I always look for people who do the same -- driven by more than the 9 to 5. They have yet to let me down. I recently launched my first company, and I'm looking forward to the journey of trying to build it into something successful.
