I made my first sale on a free tool

1 month ago I launched MyIcon.io (a free iOS icon generator) and today, I made my first sale.

When most Indie Hackers hit this milestone, they are jumping for joy. However, in my case, I was just pleasantly surprised when I saw the Stripe notification. I had added paid presets to the tool 2.5 weeks ago and in all that time made 0 sales (until today). I had written off the idea of making any money with it until I get around to putting the presets in a more prominent place instead of it being hidden in a drop-down.

The sale was most likely a result of an answer I posted in response to a question I got on Reddit yesterday. So, it's probably safe to assume this maybe be the only sale I make for a good while until I fix the problem.

Overall though, I've had a pretty good first month. Here are some highlights if you are interested.

stats The big spike in the middle was the result of the feature. The smaller spike just before it was from Indie Hackers😊

Once I've placed the presets in a better location, I plan to launch on Product Hunt. Do you have any advice on how best to launch and boost upvotes without breaking the rules?
