Hi all!
I'm Nick, been lurking here for some time and I'm hoping to get some feedback/early users on my first web app: Thought Reps: Thought Log + Spaced Repetition
I built this to solve a problem for myself which was a mess of thoughts/reading materi
How we built a Hindi + English kids learning app in Unnao with zero budget
Launched on Product Hunt today: budget hosting where the whole pitch is honesty
Hey Nick, just checked out your landing page. The design is pretty clean, however you'll need to work on your copy a bit.
You already know your product exceptionally well. When someone visits your website they start out at 0 then you try to build up a picture for them with every line of text on our website. Right now there are still some gaps in your messaging.
The first thing people want to know is what your product is. Is it a website, a mobile app, extension, desktop software, ... this can be inferred right now, but don't assume people are gonna take the time to read your entire website. This should be clear from the hero text.
The next question visitors will have is what problem it solves for them. You already do that but I think you can expand on that. Why do I need to hold on to those thoughts? Will my live improve? Will I be more successful at work?
Lastly a few examples might help visitors understand your product better. You already have the "Try it out" section which is great, however the part you demo isn't the part that brings people value. The value prop of your product isn't that you can type text into a box. The feed and repetition aspects sound much more interesting. Maybe you can share screenshots or an interactive demo of that part.
It's also not clear WHO this is for. You briefly mention a study aid, but it seems like that's only one aspect. You might well answer this question with "well anybody really" which might be true but in your marketing copy (especially at the start) try to focus on a specific group of people, even if they are only a specific subset of customers. That will make it easier for you to communicate your product and it will make that group feel like this is really for them.
Another thing that helps a lot with on-boarding is to move the sign-up as far back as possible. Give your visitors a chance to try out your app without having to sign up. (On a side note, don't ask people to confirm their password).
Hey Felix, really appreciate you taking the time to write all of this up.
Going to take this back and rework some things for sure.
I totally agree with you on clarifying the mediums on which the app is available and really showing off what the app can do in the Try It Out section.
Thanks again!
