I Almost Built the Wrong Product. Here's What Changed My Mind.

In early 2025, I left my job.

It was a scary decision, but I wanted to build something I could truly call my own.

That's how Crafium started.

Our first product was OptinCraft, a WordPress popup plugin.

At the time, it felt like the right move.

I already knew the WordPress ecosystem, knew businesses always need lead-generation tools, and it seemed like a logical place to start.

So I built.

But after a few months, something didn't feel right.

Every roadmap looked the same.

Every feature already existed somewhere.

Every competitor had been in the market for years.

I realized I wasn't excited about the next five years of building popup software.

The problem wasn't OptinCraft.

The problem was that I had chosen a market because it looked like a good opportunity, not because it was something I genuinely wanted to dedicate years to.

That realization was uncomfortable.

It also meant accepting that months of work weren't taking me where I wanted to go.

So I made a hard decision.

I stopped building OptinCraft and stepped away from the WordPress plugin business.

Then I went back to the drawing board.

I spent weeks researching markets, talking to potential users, and looking for problems worth solving.

That's when I found the idea we're building today.

A drag-and-drop native app builder that converts WordPress websites into fully native mobile apps in minutes.

We're initially focused on businesses like:

• eCommerce stores
• Directory websites
• Booking platforms
• Restaurants
• Hotels
• And other WordPress-powered businesses

The goal is simple.

Instead of rebuilding an app from scratch, businesses should be able to turn their existing WordPress website into a native mobile app through a visual, no-code builder.

We're still early.

There are countless challenges ahead.

But for the first time since leaving my job, it feels like we're building something that has long-term potential.

Looking back, leaving my job wasn't the biggest risk.

Walking away from my first product was.

And I'm glad I did.

Sometimes the best founder decision isn't shipping faster.

It's knowing when to stop building the wrong thing.
