4 Tips to Negotiate Working Remotely

The main reasons employers worry about virtual office are loss of productivity, inability to communicate quickly and collaboration capability. With proper technology like instant messaging and collaboration software like GoToMeeting or Zoom you can easily resolve two of those concerns.

4 tips to improve your odds when you ask to work remotely

  1. If they say "no" ask "why not?" then find solution to their specific objection(s).
  2. Ask to go on a one month trial. If you are not more productive then you'll come back to the office.
  3. Offer to start work remotely only some days per month/week and the rest of the time go to office.
  4. If not now, then on some future date or when reach some specific goal.
