How I crossed $40.000 revenue

I started to sell on Gumroad 28 months ago and I recently crossed $40.000 milestone which translates to earning $1420/mo in revenue.

What I sell

I am selling my ebook on deploying web applications called Deployment from Scratch and I recently added a SaaS boilerplate called Business Class as my second product. Still almost all of the earnings belong to the book, though.

How did I start

I started writing way before I put my book on Gumroad. I was writing my book for 3 years with a total of 1 year of unbillable time. I sold first copies after two and half years when the book was still unfinished and to this day I sold 980 copies.

Marketing

I didn't have a real audience when I started but I wrote for such a long time I practically grew my Twitter and mailing list together when writing.
I shared most of my learning on Twitter and my blog. You can read more about my marketing and numbers in One year of sales.

Milestones

You can find my book here on Indie Hackers where I put all the main milestones:

What's next

I am now thinking of SEO to be able to sell another thousand copies. Today I extended the book landing page with chapters breakdown and the description of scripted demonstrations. For my second product, I'll work on adding more value soon.

Amazing. What I like the most is you stayed in the same thing over a long time and for you next move you also building on top of existing things. Some soloprenuer don't really understand the power of building on top existing product.

It is literally a free money because the people who are paying for your current product already trust you so when you sell something on top of it, you can skip customer finding part.

For example if you are selling books, the next logical thing is to do private class, and then maybe seminar and then certificate etc.

You can check this article on how to resell and why it is the best money making machine: What to do when you have customers? Resell and make more money

Thanks for sharing your revenue growth story and strategies! Reaching $10k MRR is awesome - congrats!

I run an AI solutions company called synapsetech.net and we've struggled to gain traction so far. Your post got me thinking about how we could collaborate to help each other grow.

You mentioned focusing on SEO now that your content reached its intended audience. My team at SynapseTech.net has invested heavily in SEO best practices for our blog and site. We could do an audit of your site and provide suggestions to improve organic search rankings.

In return, I'd love your advice on content and social media marketing. Your results show you know how to create compelling stories and engage your target customers. We want to improve our content and outreach.

I also see opportunities for us to share audiences. We could promote each other's content, do guest posts, coordinate social media takeovers, etc. Cross-promotion could help us both expand our reach.

Let me know if you'd be open to exploring any of these collaborations! I think we could provide a lot of value to each other. Combining your marketing talents with our SEO skills could give us both a solid boost. Excited at the potential to work together - let's chat more!

Congratulations on your success. I have seen a lot of success stories with gumroad and I might take a closer look at it when I get the opportunity to do so

Thank you! It's not really about Gumroad per se, I simply use them as payment provider. However people do know Gumroad so they are not afraid to buy there something.
