Hi everyone, I am Gökhan from WebGazer. I have been planning to write here for a looong time. I waited because I have been working on a new version of WebGazer and I wanted you folks to see the new version. I have just released the new version, now I finally got to write 🙂
Just added WebGazer to the list (https://www.indiehackers.com/product/webgazer) and tried to express what I have been through until now with milestones there.
I am still now trying to figure out a way to make WebGazer enough to keep the food on my table and buy my own time to keep building it up. I am somewhat good at building the product but about marketing and growth, o boy, I suck hard 🙃
With a small team previously and now solo for ~6 months, We/I tried:
The growth is happening but it feels to be very slow (~$210 MRR currently). And I really don't know what else there is to be done.
I wanted to write here in order to ask for your stories. Is there something you can recommend for the growth of a project like WebGazer? I am also willing to collaborate if there is any way that will be useful for both you and me 🙂
You are in a saturated and competitive space and will need to invest heavily to differentiate your product. I use services like this and chose uptimerobot.
I agree! That is why I added status pages (https://status.webgazer.io) and Pulse (https://www.webgazer.io/pulse) but I am not sure if I can tell them correctly on the website.
Hey bro feel free to drop me an email, happy to see how we can help eachother out.

Hey, try and find the BAMF growth hacking guide from 2018. It has heaps of really great useful, tactical, and very specific things you can do.
I'd also suggest reading this. I've been using this strategy and while not easy to persist, has been paying off for us.

Hi Gokhan,
What are your MoM growth, Churn rates etc? Not only about your revenue but do you measure/plan other growth metrics?
I would like to help you about developing/executing growth strategies, I think it's a promising product. Feel free to reach my email: me@uyasarkocal.com
Hey @uyasarkocal,
The numbers change, so I am not sure if it is right to calculate month-over-month growth. Numbers of new paying customers:
Churn rate is 10% for the last 12 months.
I was also tracking new free users, too. But now, I don't think that is a useful metric.
Do you talk to any of these free users? It's useful. Those are your market. Work to help them get/see value. Optimize that bottom. Seems like you're getting enough users to start to see some patterns.
Where do those users come from?
The rest of the stuff you are doing are short term tactics, that are great in getting you a bit of attention. Little things here and there, but you need some consistent channels that are going to grow and start working on a strategy.
I sent two survey e-mails to all users until now, the questions were designed to understand what do they use the product for. But I don't have a consistent communication method, I agree that it is missing. How do you suggest me to stay in the touch with them?
Ask for their time on a call or screenshare. Use a free version of calendly or other scheduling software to give them availability options.
Then use Zoom or UberConference or some other tool to do a shared call.
Be prepared with open ended questions so they can just talk. Not yes or no questions.
It would work on me. As long as it's personal, authentic, and genuine.

You can offer something, but is that's their motivation, you may get a lot of junk.
